  1. 2nd guitar was a commission, and the client has come back and ordered three more since.
  2. Hold it by the neck to do the body and headstock. Then hang it for the neck area.
  3. Have people not read the responses? THE JACK PLATE IS SUPER LARGE. Everything bar the pickups fits in there... your hand can fit in there. Erik got it right.
  4. sorry, best i can do. Black plastic and Ebony board.
  5. Started on three, one for me, two for clients. They got theirs in time (just!), I still havent got the machineheads to finish mine
  6. I got bored with my job, so decided to start making guitars. I used to read the first edition of Melvyn's book in the school library though. Hardcover and all
  7. I did a burl/rosewood guitar earlier this year...
  8. Ive not used any pearl on this guitar. I used platinum pearl on Saxon's white Multiscale guitar, but other than that, i dont recall using pearl this year. Pearls """kinda""" like metallics. They are very small pieces suspended in clear (or colour like metallics). Here is that guitar, in plain white. Here it is five minutes later, with a coat of platinum pearl over the top. ] Then clear, etc etc Pearls can be mixed, eg: blue pearl over white base looks like white, with blue metallic mixed in. You might prefer orange pearl over a red base, or blue pearl over a blue base. Pearls can be suspended in the clear, which tends to have colour changing effects, or mixed with the base colour paint, for a different style of metallic look. Here is a large pearl blue, mixed with straight blue. Looks like metallic, but instead of metal coloured 'dust', its actually blue coloured.
  9. Brazilian is definately very easy to work with, but i prefer the tone of other timbers myself. I dislike QLD Maple, but that may be because Ive always had bad experiences with the merchants. To get a nice light blue, you need nice light coloured timber. I'll probably post up a thread for the blue guitar soon, but otherwise just go to my website and view it in the diary. You'll see the maple is VERY white. The get a blue over a non white surface, you'll need to tint the clear.
  10. Ok, here is a further run down of what myself, and my performers will be doing. Of course, Andrew Ellis (Ellis Guitars) and his players will be running their clinics and performances in addition to this. CLINICS: Multiscale clinic (30-45 minutes): All about the design and practical advantages of the Multiscale guitars, including demos and discussion. Pickup design and construction (10-20 minutes): All about pickup construction and materials, how those materials effect tone, and how to select the ultimate pickup to suit your needs Intonation and compensation (5-15 minutes): Advanced compensation techniques for the ultimate in intonation over the entire fretboard (not just the 12th fret like EVERY production guitar ever made). Timber and Construction (60-90 minutes): Guitar tonewoods discussion, and why certain timbers are favored. Acoustic and electric guitar construction, and how certain methods favor certain styles of playing. Advanced Lead Techniques: Lead guitar playing for those looking to go to the next level, but Multi Award winning guitarist Graham Greene. PERFORMANCES: Graham Greene and the Happy Sinners: Graham will play an all instrumental set featuring 6 and 7 string guitars, with band mates Tommy and Jim. Saxon Smith: Saxon will be joined by UTI bassist Chad, for an instrumental set covering tunes from UTI, Cirque Du Soleil, and some surprise covers. This set will be performed exclusively on a range of Multiscale guitars, in 6 and 8 string versions. At some stage, there WILL be a guitar 'Crossroads' shootout. Because we can Some more guitars have been confirmed to be there, more details later.
  11. ... and some more to the confirmed list... Seven string baritone Rosewood neck'd 26.2" scale explorer
  12. Hey Wes, we are coming back to the USA in July or August, and hitting LA, Oklahoma and Vegas. Just so you know I expect your guitar to be done well before then though. Let me know where/when you'll be in Oklahoma. It will be for Rocklahoma next year But, depends on the line-up they announce.

  14. I used to get at LEAST one endorsement request a week. Then i changed my myspace profile only (nothing else) to state, that if you are going to ask for an endorsement, at least do it properly and send me a PROMO PACK in the mail. Only one has ever come through since then. A year later Seriously, why do these guys think a "hey dude, i rekon u should indorse me, im a fully sik gat player man, cheers goat-raper666" is going to even get a response at all?
  15. No video, sorry. Just met Machinehead. They loved the Multiscales and this Explorer, but the same old problem.... they get free guitars elsewhere... DAMNIT. Swapped contact details, so not all is lost. Booked in to meet Slipknot (same tour), and we waited for two hours. The head of security was being a bit of a prick, and just as they arrived, we were whisked away and told we couldn't see them, DESPITE their guitar tech hooking it all up for us. DAMNIT x 2 But, met someone very influential who wants to help give my guitars a push, so not all was lost today. Fingers crossed.
  16. Crappy camera mic, but you get the idea. Its very similar to Mahogany, without the mud. Pickups are splittable, its no harder to make them with that feature.
  17. Sure will. Although, Im not quite sure what the footage will be used for, or how it will be distributed. I think two film crews are coming down. One amatuer, one pro. Eventually, there will be a promo dvd, but it could be a long way off.
  18. you can mask, but scraping looks cleaner in the end. I use a blade of some sort, mostly an exacto knife, but a chisel if its there and handy. Candy can be stain/dye + lacquer, or actual candy paints. It just needs to be suspended over lacquer, and not touching the wood itself. There is a clear coat over the light blue, although I didnt get a photo. If you know what Im talking about with my method, and you use it on your own builds, credit me
  19. Here it is with clear over the candy. Study these ones too. If you work out what im talking about, dont post the answer. Let others discover it themselves
