If I read you correctly , your going to shave a little off the lower frets , which will make the action a little higher in that area.I would just raise the action a little and leave the frets alone.Either way the action will be altered.Your talking very little movement.Hope someone else has more info for you, as this is just a thought.

I look at the setup as a seperate process.When you finish the building process,and do the setup, do you have anyone that you can go to for a review of your work?They could point out any problems and give you tips on how to approch them.That is what I did with my builds.More lessions to be had.hahaha

Just remember there is a very famous violin out there,cost a million plus if you could buy one.With all the modern equipment we have today ,they still can not reproduce it.That seems to mean ,to me, that we have a long way to understanding what effects tone and sound.

Looks like a tele to me.....I think that fixing your problems as you go along says alot about you.It is a learning process and you seem to be doing just fine.Keep up the good work.Your next build will be ten times better ,as your learning curve is comming along very well.Remember their not mistakes , they are lessons.

You can't sell your first build can you? In 20 years, it would be nice to look back at that one and say - that's what my first build looked like.. I'm halfway through my second build now. Ready to install the frets. I bet I can get a lot of glue in those little slots. (Just kiddiing). I think that first builds have more value to the builder then any buyer. It took more hours then the guitar is worth to anyone else. I think I'll keep it. Have you guys sold your guitars? The only thing that changes is temp. ,so the neck has to be moving ,maybe a slight expanding of the fret board wood is causing your problem.Your tight setup does not need much to buzz.It is like everything I run into ,it is not broke and it is not well,hard to pin point problem.Sounds like you have very good people to ask and they have not fixed it for you.Not sure what to recommend.Maybe a controlled temp. room. or put in a room with idea temp and see if it goes away.If it does your neck is moving.

If your not going to see the under parts ,you can seal them with lintseed oil, just coat it good ,it will keep moisture out.If you already lacquered them they should be good to go.

I would hold them in my hand....alot of way to do this...mount buffing wheel in vice or fix sand paper to something and move the part over it....kind of like shaping a nut....I do it in my hand no vice,get it close with grinding wheel and finish with files and sand paper then 00 steel wool....I just used that as a ex. ,I know you get the idea.I would not screw down the parts.JMO

It looks like whoever put the paint on ,just dripped runs on the white and then moved the paint around with their finger.You can see the line running thru the solid painted area,and almost make out finger prints in the paint.

I retired hurt ,too....all I can say to you is I am truly sorry for my part in this,as you can tell I do have issues with Drek.I forgot about you and that was wrong.I am done with this post, and for you hope it gets back on track.I will post my way for you,hope it helps. 1. Make the veneer surface flat, router,plane,drimmel,etc. light sand with 250 grit then light sand with 400 grit 2. I then clean the area with Naptha, don't soak it 3. Let it dry, should not take long 4. Have a cup of water,clean rag, small files, scrapers, a damp rag, a block of hard flat wood with a 45 cut on one end about 3 inches long by 1 1/2 wide by 1 inch or so high with good square side,quick clamp,razzor blade...all handy 5. If your doing a flat surface put some position marks on the wood to go by 6. Have your water handy ,and damp cloth 7. I use titebond original wood glue, apply the glue to the wood area to be veneered ,I put it on and spread it with my finger. 8. Apply glue to back side of veneer, spread with finger ,this is where the cup of water comes in to clean your finger off before touching wood,also you have time to clean off glue bottle, make sure the glue is spread even and as thin as you can. 9. Apply veneer to body useing markers , it is going to slide around , use quick clamp to help hold it in place ,take your wood block and apply pressure, working from the middle out ,if it is a big piece of veneer press the veneer between two boards with wax paper between the veneer and board....flat boards ,no hole,scratchs,flat on the veneer side,clamp it good and make sure the veneer does not move, let it set about a half hour.Take the clamps off and start working the veneer with the block,also clean off excess glue with bamp rag, work the block like sanding you will feel the glue setting up.Press hard it will not hurt the veneer,work the edges,clead off glue as it comes out. 10. You will feel it setup , when it is good and tight ,start trimming the excess wood ,be carful when using the razzor to remove excess veneer the follow the grain as not to pull it off the area just veneered.if need be just use sand paper 80 grit to remove bigger areas,as you rub with the block you can sand some too when it is down tight.If you have veneer with holes in it you can sand with 250 or 400 grit , fill the holes with dust and hit it with super glue to hold it in place ,wait a little while and sand it ,hole filled ,same thing if you get a little off and have a small gap bretween veneer and body.if you have a big gap ,cut a pice of matching veneer , sand the area and glue it in using the wood block to work it ,then sand as needed. I may have left something out as I am doing this on the fly.....but that is about it....do not do this unless you have time,you have to stay with it till done.

Just guessing but maybe replace the nut and raise the strings just a little on the nut end.As for the frets ,you got the right idea.Just clean up the ends real good.
