  1. i wonder how heavy an all marble guitar wood be......Well, easy solution for those NOT wanting to rout for a truss rod/carbon fiber rod.... JUST USE MARBLE NECKS....
  2. My destroyed 10 year old washburn strat-copy is....POS (piece o sht...on looks only [its really destroyed].....still plays well..and sounds fine) My ESP xtone is....Lucinda My Ovation is....Friday My bass is....Bertha My new project is....Unnamed until completed, can't name it until i see it Now for manufacturer names...Ive got no clue...But they could use some new names.... Especially those Ibanez guitars.....When is RG952583 coming out?
  3. Ill test it, and im in NY.....Throw that guy right into my Test guitar (an old washburn strat copy that i have done Everything thinkable to...but it still plays well) Depending on when (if) i try it out, i may throw it in my custom project too...
  4. also the planet waves tuners do the same, but also will but the string for you
  5. ansil, sent email...thanks for the help
  6. Alright, Im going h-s-h, coil taps on both humbuckers (i'd like to use the south coil on bridge pup, and the north coil on the neck pup). So neck with a coil tap so that the single coil sound is from the northern coil bridge with coil tap so that the single coil sound comes from the southern coil. I plan on using a concentric pot for each, allowing tone/volume in one control area so each is seperately controlled. I then would like to use a stewmac overdrive circuit connected so that all 3 pups go into that. Switch that will allow all pups to be used individually. Position 1-neck, position 2-middle, position 3-bridge..... and a mono output jack, since it will be all passive. If anyone would be awesome and draw up a simple schematic for me I'd appreciate it greatly. I know it is probably a rather complicated wiring, but I think it will be more than worth it in the end. Pickups Neck------Dimarzio-------Air Norton 7 or PAF 7...........Most likely the PAF Middle-----Rio Grande----Tall Boy 7 Bridge-----Dimarzio-------EVolution 7 or Tone Zone 7..Most likely the Tone Zone The PAF is almost definate, but the Tone Zone/EVo choice is much harder, if anyone would like to reccomend one of those two Id appreciate it.. Thanks, Matt
  7. What radius should I use for a dual locking floyd rose 7.. The nut has a radius of 10" while the trem has a radius of 12", so what should i use as the fingerboard radius?
  8. I did see that, and hence my asking.... Does home depot sell titebond? If not where would i purchase this(other than online)
  9. For my guitar I need to laminate a body/neck, and need to know what type of glue is best for this? (woods are korina/limba and walnut)
  10. I'm going to a 7 string, and will use the original floyd 7...then retro fit a speedloader when available
  11. no 7 string speedloaders for a while...they are thinking of introducing them neck year...
  12. For my custom guitar I will be using a 25.5" scaled 24 fret ebony fretboard (wide enough for a 7 string). The only problem is, I do not trust myself to make something as exact as a fretboard must be, so i plan to purchase one. Where can I do this?
  13. where can you find a 24 fret 7 string ebony fretboard, with jumbo, or extra jumbo frets?
  14. http://carvin.com/products/part.php?ItemNumber=NT7 Buy this and make it a set neck, rather than a neck thru.......No guitar buying involved....but i probably will build from scratch...this is a, "incase i screw it up horribly option"
  15. Im building a 7 string LP with a locking trem... Korina/walnut body ebony/maple laminate neck Im thinking bridge really hot, very rich harmonically, and high output for the heavier stuff FOr the middle pickup, I want something more 70s rock ish....A nice strat-like bell mixed with a bit of tele jangle....SOmething like a twang banger, but for the 7 string..... For the neck, Im thinking a smoother pup for the blues and jazz....Nice smooth, crisp sound..... Im was thinking Seymour Duncan Jazz Model Neck Rio Grande Tallboy Middle Dimarzio Tone Zone for bridge WIll that provide what Im looking for? If not could you reccomend what will? Thanks
  16. How do you go about procuring and installing these in a neck, so that it will be strong enough to withstand the bending force of a 7 string at wizard-like thinness?
  17. If I were to buy the Carvin 7 string neck (thru body)....would it be possible to cut down the maple extension so that I may use it as a set neck, rather than the neck thru? It has the same dimensions and materials i had planned on using on/with my custim neck, and it would be much easier to do if this was possible.... thanks
  18. I plan to build a 7 string Les Paul. Body wood Black Korina/Limba Capped with Claro Walnut Maple set neck Ebony fingerboard..... 24 fret, 7 string floyd rose locking tremolo i already have the body wood, and the cap wood, but im unsure of what size Hard rock maple to get for a 7 string neck width and 24 fret length. Scale length will be 25 1/4..but what nut width should i use in conjunction with this.....also how thick shall the neck be, as i know it will require more thickness to counteract the added tension....... How thick do i make the fret board?
  19. Do you have the pickup? If so why don't you make your own template so that it is exact?
  20. Im interested in building one of these, and as you may have seen have my materials picked, but am unsure of which to build. Most likely I will construct either the Les Paul or VIP, but i will need body/neck templates, and i was wondering if anyone could mail a set to me, thanks for looking.
  21. Ive decided to make my custom guitar (a Les Paul, soloist, vip or lps [will decide after i recieve materials) a: Korina (african limba) topped with walnut Hard rock maple set in glued neck. Which fingerboard should I use to accent the other woods: Brazillian Rosewood, Masacar Ebony, or gaboon ebony?
