  1. Competing with David's guitar is so not fair.... Here is my entry since I am new here: If you have seen Joe perry's les paul this is the tele version Gibson PAF from the 70's. Dimarzio DP207 great screamin pickup. All maple birdseye neck with Jumbo's fender roller nut along with locking tuners... rock on! nicer pictures of flames - this is all I have going for me.
  2. I made this: its a paduk top with a sitka spruce body, the tops of acoustics are made of this, and this guitar sounds awesome. I have a set of vintage telecaster pickups in there and the sound is perfect. best sounding guitar that I have made. it has a rosewood board with a mahogany neck.
  3. the first guitar that is posted there has has tung oil on it for over a year now and the color is great...
  4. I have made a couple of paduk bodies. The dust has never really bothered me all that much, but I do wear a mask. sometimes. Paduk is very open grained, and I have used teak oil on it. For some reason this oil stays better than tung oil and it gets deeper into the wood. I don't know if I would ever fill the grain and lacquer the top... its too pretty to do that. Paduk is quite heavy, so you may want to chamber the body if you can. here is one guitar: here is the other recent one:
  5. I buy from routerbits.com they are based in Atlanta and I got my bits in three days. When I do my template bodies I use the 1/4 top bearing bit. It takes the perfect amount off. Whiteside Machine Company is the only place to buy bits, espcially the top bearing bits. Anything large than 1/2 just wastes the bit.
  6. Kinda funky guitar, Tele-ish if you close your eyes. Paduk top, with sitka spruce body. Light guitar with a great sound. Did some funky stuff with the faux binding. I should have used alcohol based stain cause this seeped way to far into the wood. Live and you learn right! picture of the stain on the side.
  7. Thats awesome, look at this bad boy... This picture sucks, I did not have the proper lighting. This is the worst out of the billet that I bought. Yes I know you should stain after gluing the top but I am playing around here.
  8. Supposly the wood is so much more dense that it changes the dynamics of the speaker. Plywood moves a little more so it sounds better. Its a 1/2 open back setup. there are these little rings that I should place around the speakers which should give it a better sound.
  9. I just built this cab It sounds like ****... I need to add some kind of padding because the speakers become very muddy. They are fender Blue alnico speakers... This is a mahogany cabinet, looks great but...
  10. I am thinking of buildin a couple of wild things. I have a fraken tele that will soon be done. Think of tele meets BC Rich, Its a Paduk top, with a sitka spruce body. I really refuse to build necks now that warmoth has improved thier quality. I will build necks only if I want to... I am also going to make a all natural american hardwood guitar. This will be out of walnut, hickory, maple all american woods get it? I am also doing a zebrawood topped les paul...
