  1. Yeah, good luck trying to get paid because you couldn't finish the show due to brain damage.
  2. Heck, you don't even need to be disoriented to fall off the stage, I remember seeing Meatloaf fall through the stage because it wasn't tacked down correctly at Wolftrap. He had a huge goose egg on his head after and still finished the show!
  3. Hmmm, don't want to be too harsh but focus on playing, in my experience 'headbanging' is not an act, it's a result, and usually an exaggerated result of simply keeping time and getting into the groove of what you’re doing. Choreography is part of a ‘Show’ but what you’ve asked doesn’t sound like choreography and if it is, simply hire someone to teach you to dance (so to speak). And if you think most of your favorite head bangers don’t ‘dance’, you’re kidding yourself, remember it’s a show.
  4. Actually it's not mine, it's my little brother new release. More details and pre-orders available here: http://www.abstractlogix.com/newsletter/ki...releaseablx.htm
  5. A couple additional points to keep in prospective. Every 'scale' has modes, what's been discussed here is only the 'Diatonic scale' the simplest of next to the pentatonic. Within the scope of Diatonic some modes work well over other keys. The most commonly abused is Lydian over Ionian. Always keep in mind if your playing C Ionian, D Dorian, E Phrygian, F Lydian, G Myxolydian, A Aolian, B Locrian ....IT'S ALL THE SAME NOTES. So what if you want to play Lydian over Ionian? Example C, C Lydian is actually nothing more than the key of F..that's it, nothing fancy. Beyond this in time, you'll want to focus on the chord, not a mode. Especially in vamps using embellishment the rules will change for each movement, example progression where Amaj7 goes to Amin7 goes to Amin7b5 goes to A7b9b13, you'll find modes just making things too complicated to 'think about' while playing. Focus on the chord and what it contains.
  6. All the old concert footage I have either on DVD or tape, he's using a Fender
  7. Really sorry for the delay in getting back to you, life's been challenging. From what I'm seeing eBay has them going for 125 - 250 US and when factoring shipping don't really think it would be a good deal for you. You would probably be better off watching eBay for one out of the UK so the postage doesn't cost so much.
  8. I have one but honestly was expecting to ebay as they seem to be bringing a somewhat good return (for what ever reasons). It's what I used for a long time before going 13-pin midi gear. Not a bad stand in if you can't afford a better midiFiddle.
  9. As the MP-1's bite is by daisy chaining two Ax7 tubes, it's hard to put something in between but realistically, I never had a 'problem' due to noise. I've always run it with a midi foot controller and always in the habit of stomping on a clean quiet preset when not playing. Granted it wouldn't take anything to put a noise gate on the backend of the preamp. At the same time I wouldn't use one anyway. The one piece of gear I've ever owned that will allow me to go to the extremes of 'from a whisper to a roar' with the turn of a volume knob. A gate would kill it...IMO
  10. Still use mine. Mine was mod'd at the factory (when it still existed) a long time ago and I'm still not exactly certain what they did beyond making the effects loop stereo. Run Groove Tubes in it and will never let that little puppy go....NEVER!
  11. Traitor! Sell out, move along, see if we care. Just playin ya dude, best of luck down there in the lone star!
  12. For quick and dirty I use Propellerhead Reason (not cheap). Band in a box is a reasonably priced fun tool I know many folks use (I haven't bought it yet) for not only drum patterns, but on the fly progressions as well.
  13. Dude, you just said it! The difference between 'Pop' music, and MUSIC. Pop requires no vocabulary what so ever! Other forums, especially jazz and classical require a bit more vocabulary to be consumed as intended. Right on!
  14. now I can open a whole new can of worms with what type of keyboard to get.....so much choice out there I think my head might explode I have a handful but my most recent addition is the M-Audio Oxygen8 v2, 25 key controller. No sound module, just a controller that also has many buttons and knobs to be used anyway you see fit. Even has DAW transport buttons, so you can even push a button during playback or Punch In, play, then Punch Out within a couple of inches from the keys. I like the little guy a lot more than I was expecting.
  15. It's not...I just was focused on mp3s. But yeah, with Cool Edit Pro I can always record at lo-fi quality...it's mostly a question of keeping the ultimate file size down in order to minimize the chances that Windows will start to squawk. Also working on huge files still takes more time than will be necessary (my machine is three years old now...it's starting to huff and puff...) I know a couple hour file in Cool Edit at 8-bit 11k stereo is manageable even on a 1 Ghz box. As for cherps, burps and dropout. Defrag the drive before you start. That'll help reduce the possiblity.
  16. Nah... It'll record as long as the hard drive will allow. That's the limit. I recorded all day lectures with it some time ago, that's why I thought of it. Also, if still lurking around on the internet Cool Edit 96 (original two track version of Cool Edit Pro) will allow really low bit rates (4k). I used it back in the my days of doing voice response programming and engineering and still use it now as the audio (sample) editor in Ableton Live (Yes Greg, I'm giving Live a crack).
  17. It's a cheezy option but in Windows, I believe 'Sound Recorder' is still available and it will allow you to record at bit rates considerably lower than most sound tools do these days. You can record at 8-bit, 11k if you wish with it. Gonna sound like cha-cha, but it will work.
  18. It is audio only. You can get a cable now to do the exact same thing for a fraction of the price. 1/4 on one end USB on the other. As MIDI guitar goes, the best options are still Roland GK Ready gear and the AXON unit (uses the same 13-bin as Roland). You'll find with any of these units the tracking isn't nearly as bad as people often say. Usually it's more, configuration issues between two MIDI units, out of tune guitars or simple over tracking (every pitchbend event get's recorded...guitars produce zillions of pitchbend events).

    Solos

I have to admit for the vast majority of Metal type tunes I've done I've rarely pre-defined the solo unless it was critical to changes. Usually Metal tunes are strongly based in a single scale allowing for huge amounts of room for brainless improve on the fly. Understanding diatonic scale and its modes and melodic minor and its modes throughout the fretboard will give you huge amounts of room to play.
  20. Certainly! An audio interface often is a sound card but can also be USB or Firewire and not a card. In anycase as long as the monitors are powered, yep!
  21. Hmmm, there use to be one, where'd it go? Maybe they're revamping it, it was based on SX 1, though still not that radically different. Got me to buy Cubase. Bummer. Game on!
  22. monkey, my 11 daughter BS's better than you and she's NOT good at it. I'm just going to leave this in dust with a simple list of points. 'Borrowing' software the vast majority of the time is theft. Downloading illegal software is a really foolish act, your ip address is logged and your ISP will point at your household if something comes down. It does come down! I've seen it. It's exactly as if walking into the store, picking up a guitar and trying to walk out. It's no different! Some people (like me) depend on making a living on software revenue by honest ass hard work. Piracy has killed many really cool small startups. Think man!
  23. Well he explicitly states: Oh, and by the way...I work for the government! Cubase has an available demo for this exact sort of evaluation, no need for theft.
  24. I'm sorry dude but either you're very well off or a software thief! I don't know of too many people who could BUY Cubase SX for $500 and decide later if they 'like it or not'! While talking about so many pieces at a fraction of it's price. Sorry if I offend anyone else, just ticks me off! It's how some of us make a living you know?
