  1. Bad horsie. Sound and the switchless deal. Step on and go step off and no go. Ive had a few Cry Baby's and they sound cool but i find them way hard to switch off and on. My band is playing out a lot now (6 shows in march i think) and booking april, so im really concentrated on the live show. I dont want to have to think about using any of my pedals, so the bad horsie is my wah of choice.
  2. so its 4mm wide and about 7 mm long. The base color for the paint is silver(under the purple) and still in tact its just the base color and cleard flake that are damaged. Its on the left side of the guitar about even with the bridge pickup. I havent been able to get any close up pics to come out. Im hoping jeremy will chime in since he'd done some work on this type of finish. I think i follow franks idea. Im trying to find some flakes to practice with and find a close base coat.
  3. that's what i really want to do at this point met a guy at one of the music stores who's a degreed audio engineer he's gonna coach me through what i need set up a little system with my computer & a burner the concept of being able to do some overdubs etc is real exciting for me Start playing with cakewalks guitar tracks while your waiting if you can get your hands on it. Its not great but its a good primer for things like cubase and logic. We used a roland studio pack for our stuff, some of the current samples on our page should have been done with it.
  4. Ive seen it used a few times. The demo cd for them was a band called Fourth Estate. I used 2 of thier songs at my wedding. The guitarist was david beegle from colorado. If you can find the Finesse and Fury cd its incredible. CD
  5. Similar Ebay Body This body looks kinda like it but a horible pink color that mine is not. Similar Guitar black tele another one Holoflake finish but in black Similar guitars. Ive actually seen very few of these in person and at prices that make me cough. I think they do this finish on Guilds, Gretch's and Squires now. In fact I think LGM did some work on one of the squires recently? Ill get a damage pic tonight at home. Can i go to an autopaint store to get matching flakes if i bring them the guitar? Are holoflakes different than regular ones?
  6. Its a pretty flakey finish. I suck at photography and its hard to photograph. The dents about 1/4" in diameter. My understanding is they put down a base coat and then put the flakes in all the layers of clear. Its kinda a 3d effect. I wonder if i can get it the base paint matched somewhere. Hey frank, I'll be visiting chicago in may if i bring it with can we move that decimal a few places to the left. Im probably being picky but this is the first sign of wear on a 10 year old guitar. Ive had it for about 7. I've been contimplating selling it but every other strat I play is ugly in comparison and doesnt play as well.
  7. So, I recently decided that if im gonna own my custom shop strat I should play it more. I've just been afraid to drag it around too much and get it beat up. It's not the most expensive of custom shops but its the only strat ive ever liked, none the less loved. What a f'in stupid idea! I should be beaten with a korean squire factory reject! Well last night my nightmares came true at band practice. Our studio(garage) is lined with cubical walls and has a few "booths" sectioned out. Well we had some brackets on the top of a shelf that fell and one hit my guitar. It has a small dent with some missing finish. I need to either fix it, have it fixed, or at least prevent it from getting worse! If it was a relic oh well, or a normal paint job an easy repair. But its a holoflake, so I have no idea where to start or what material were used. There is a small crack around the dent, so I think its too hard to be laquer but im not sure. Heres a gallery of the GUITAR, Ill post one of the dent later. Frank Falbo, LGM, Brian, Scott, Anyone?(well anyone with a clue)
  8. I bought these for a project that im just not gonna do. I bought a cheep rg7 fixed bridge instead, and am not sure if ill even keep that. 2 blaze pickups and an edge Looking for $80 shipped(us) for the pickup set, 90 for the trem. Open to trades pickups, parts etc...
  9. playing originals. cd should be ready shortly.
  10. Remember some tube numbers are substituable for others. Especially in the preamp.
  11. depends on what your guitar is/was? if its just the neck and its a bolt on replace it. give us some pics and we'll give you some answers.
  12. do a search this has been much discussed around here. My usualy comment... I use a parker nite fly and would say the acoustic output is as good if not better than most onboard acoustic piezos. I love the blended sounds.
  13. and harbor freight has a small lathe for 29 bux today...
  14. for mail order reasonable prices try www.woodworkerssource.com
  15. I wouldnt worry about the volume controll being too high. Many people put it thier so they can use it while playing. Youd have to be really wildly picking for this to be an issue. I prefer a guitar i can hook my pinky on to swell stuff.
  16. I added a piezo to my tacoma acoustic. Not wanting to bugger things up with an on board preamp, i use externals. I have a baggs and a fishman. Either are about the same. You can get by not preamping but it sounds nasty, you really get to understan piezo quack. There are lots of options at stew mac preamps in the jack etc... I would like to know how this works out for you cuz ive been wanting to try the same for a while. I use a parker nite fly all the time. Allow yourself the ability to blend the 2 you'd be amazed the fun this adds. Hope this helps.
  17. aren't most solid body electrics have their body as just one pice of wood, so won't having a 1 piece neck-body just add the necks length to the original sizee of just the body which is not really all that big. Nope most solid bodies are 2-3 up to 6 ive heard for factory work. Besides the costs the wisedom of frank applies here for stability.
  18. A friend had one, it sounded great. Crapped out after a 31 days though. He returned it after a long fight with guitar center. I hear this problem only effect the first runs, so a new one may be fine, making me cautious about a used one.
  19. It all depends on what you like. This can get as ugly as the pickup mounting thread. None of them is bad or flawed or evil or saintly. They have different properties and pros and cons. Regardless of what anyone says. A majority of what I own is bolt on. Even my accoustic. Don't know why except the other 2 methods usually are more expensive.
  20. 1. Try another guitar -if this makes it go away do a search here on grounding and shielding.(pay to have it fixed if you dont have the time, equipment, or skill) 2. Try another cable. Preferably one by george l's, spectraflex, planetwaves, monster, etc... Basically something high quality and known to be quiet. -if this resolves it buy a new cable. toss the one you have. 3. If the amp has a three prong plug. I would guess it does. Make sure all the prongs are there and plugged in. (dont use a ground lift) If you need to take the amp and your guitar to a shop and try it with a high quality cable and your/thier guitars. Also try it in different rooms in your house or a friends or neighbors. It could be dirty power, but i suspect its one of the first 2. It could be just a noisy amp its hard to have really high gain and no noise.
  21. my first choice in 12 string would be a blonde jumbe guild or takamine
  22. Mesa Studio 22 amp. This one has the graphic eq. Rackmounted in an skb six space case. Sounds great. With homemade channel switch. $500 plus shipping This has el84's so its a bit more brittish than your average Mesa. Ive gigged and recorded with it. Great clean and smokin lead channel. Somewhere between 22 and 30 watts. This amp rocks, im just not using it and would like to see it get used. Mesa V-twin pedal. This bad boy rocks. If my new amp didn't do it all this would stay. Replacment powersupply with slightly more amperage. $225 plus shipping. Im open to trades and wont ship the amp outside the us. Would prefer not to ship outside the us at all. Trades id consider partial or full js series guitar rg's (500 and up) pickups(upgrades, dimarzio, duncan, esp, rio grande) 12 strings laptops other stuff....
  23. Remember when most manufacturers rate this stuf they use ILS power. If lightning strikes this amp it will actually pass this much power as it melts to a smoldering pile of rubble. Its easier to tell with tube amps but there's some debate there even. Mesa says my 2 el-84 is 22watts, the store I got it from says its closer to 30. My logic says 2 el-84s is 18 watts.
  24. Ive seen vai do it. But have refrained myself due to fear of concusion and heartbreak.
