  1. Sorry Mr F Body I think you are a bit pointy. Let me fix that.
  2. So I need a test b ody blank for another project so Soft maple it is. Knots and all. And while I am at it I will make the back for the F body.
  3. Mad now... I didn't mix the epoxy right on the headstock plate and it is not curing.
  4. Tx... it is one of those things. The neck was nice enough to use and I didn't feel like building a new guitar. I have an F body design in CAD but it is way more modern than this horsey. So all scraps all the time.
  5. Might as well fix the headstock while I am at it. Man this thing is sloppy. Neck is well built but the headstock is a mess. You can find these things for around $150 bucks. With a little work they can be really nice guitars.
  6. Hell yes. With this piece of Sapele in the middle of the guitar it will be lit. Basswood + Maple + Sapele = Tone I built some wedges to make it tight and squeeze out all the glue. Nothing better than a starved joint
  7. Adding the maple strengthening strip. Seems I didn't take a photo of it... anyway there is a 1/2" maple board going in this route
  8. First up. Rebuilding my old pickup horse. ESP F-50 My friends daughter started playing guitar a few years ago. She is tiny (4' 10") and most of my guitars are too big for her. I have this ESP that is tiny 1 5/8" at the nut with a short 24.75 scale. She liked playing it so much I am going to fix it and give it to her. Not much to say... other than at least it is solid wood.
  9. Starting up a new thread for random guitar building silliness. I have two goals this year. Finish a bunch of old projects and resurrect guitars that I should have burned in a barrel. If at some point I can't resurrect them I am going to burn the parts in a barrel so I stop trying to resurrect them. I also have to build a bunch of pickups so I will chronicle that as well. I have started building tube amps and pedals so I may add some of that in as well. I am still really busy with real work and life (kid is in high school) so this might take a while.
  10. Also I am looking forward to the Tele Bass. Going to lIsten to a lot of The Police while building it.
  11. Yes I wrote it down. Pickups are science not art... and I can't remember anything not related to my job like #code, #InfrastructureAsCode and #CI/CD these days.
  12. Yeah. Painful process. Fill Grain. Paint White. Paint Transparent Fluorescent Green. I should have used an expensive 2K Clear but I just didn't care as this is my guitar (so much more fun building for myself). So I shot it with shellac and threw a few coats of Behlens Instrument Lacquer over it. It is already chipped and I know it is going to yellow in a few years but I don't care. It is supposed to be my workhorse but I still play my silly old Padauk/Ash single pickup S9 Express all the time.
  13. When Robo RAD gets used yes. I fried a board in it a few years ago... pulled it out put new terminals on and jumped out the burnt traces. I really should buy a replacement board but it keeps working. I used it for the recent SG and Greenie... I am going to use it again for the Tele Bass. And of course building the custom pickups.
  14. And I finished the Green one a few weeks ago. Even did some recording with it... still too new though needs to be played for a while before it breaks in. The other two are well broke in...
  15. Not yet. But maybe over winter break. I have a Tele Bass project for my brother and a Warmoth strat to put together for a friend. Both need pickups. And I want to do a new blade design so we will see.
  16. So I am finally getting around to final assembly on the Wookie...
