  1. anyone ever built their own speakers? i found some plywood and slapped together a cabinet for fun, and was thinking that it would be pretty cool to play a self-made guitar through a self-made cab... or any links to speaker kits etc?
  2. apparently i hadn't read it.. man, that guy is sure creative with some of his solutions!
  3. thanks litch, i've read that les paul the hard way but i'll re-read it over
  4. Brian you are the master of KISS-style solutions and I don't mean with the huge boots and your tongue hanging out
  5. i live in fear of asking this question, because i KNOW there has got to be a tutorial somewhere.. but is there a tutorial on carving a top, start to finish?
  6. i'll go one step further and boycott ALL tools!
  7. Hi guitar Ed, thanks so much for the tip! I'll start looking around... man.. just what i needed to add to my GAS.. a bit of TAS
  8. stupid question, but what was inappropriate about his comment? this forum has so many rules to keep track of! hehe, but that is SUCH a good thing, keeps it from going to hell like so many other forums i've been a part of
  9. projectguitar.com forum.cubase.net www.20hz.ca thebreezeway.tk
  10. then buy it and attach your own neck it is the only way you're going to get it. nobody sells what you are looking for. just buy the saga kit and either use the neck for another project, or maybe sell it off cheaply.. hell, i'd give you a bit of money for it (not a lot, but a bit)
  11. i agree with jehle on the lower horn... schwoop it up a bit maybe
  12. ok great, thanks for the answers guys! saved me from making a bad purchase... i know that craftsman isn't always the best, but figured there might be an exception now and then
  13. wow, you have a lot of signature guitars
  14. I go to school in Kingston, but I am in Brantford for the summer.. trying to get some sort of tools for cheap (still a student).. crap, so 10" is too small eh.. i figured 8" would be, but was hopeful for 10.
  15. hi everyone, I'm looking to buy a bandsaw... in today's classifieds I have seen this: BANDSAW, 10" Craftsman. 3 wheel, 45 degree tilt, like new. $120 (Canadian). I realize that not knowing the model/actual condition of the saw will prevent anyone from a final ruling.. but since I am new to the world of tools I thought I'd ask.. is $120 a good price for this type of thing? If it is in "like new" condition, will this be a useful tool for guitarmaking? Thanks for your speedy replies (i kinda wanna call this guy if it is good..)
  16. no kidding.. i'm just starting to work on my first one, and I'm already planning the next three or four!
  17. i got turboCAD 2d (the one from guitarbuild.com).. will this print stuff out like mentioned above? i got it last night, and haven't really had a chance to play around with it.
  18. the tuner holes are actually really freaking annoying, because all my extra sets of nicer tuners are too big for the tiny holes.. it would've been nice just to drop a new set in, dremel out some screw holes and be up and running. all the small problems i've had with the kit have been easily solved, it is just annoying because it is a KIT.. if I was building from scratch, I wouldn't care that pickup mounting holes weren't drilled, because I'd be drilling them myself anyways... oh well, still lots of fun
  19. yes, i agree.. of course, this is my first post.. but with a few replacements (obviously the tuners, pickups are fine but not fan-freakin'-tastic, and I put a brass nut in mine) it is a lot of fun... although I think I got a bag of strat hardware with my tele kit, because a lot of screws and smaller stuff didn't match up
