  1. That is a thing of beauty I feel I should take her out and wine her and dine her before getting all sweaty
  2. when my bike is built i may just do that!
  3. don't get me wrong I don't dislike it as it is. I obviously only see it how it is now I trust your judgment
  4. I'd have put the cross the otherway round so its upright when being played I'd also have ditched the dot on the twelth. My opinion only obviously and if I had your obvious skill i'd be a happy man!
  5. I'm working on a neck that has laminates from front to back! I like it but I really hope your fretboard isn't compromised as you say!
  6. yeah thought that might be the case thank godf for the internet! PS any alarm system on the workshop?
  7. thats one cool infestation! any idea why it goes orange? and does it stay orange or does it fade?
  8. Daniel you have been snooping my profile I see Really nice guitar looks a bit washed out against that wall though! I really like the back of it.
  9. I love dogs I'll steal it too! perhaps I'll just steal the wood! Any recomendations for timber merchants in scotland I have picked up some rather nice sycammore from Airfield Timber (or something like that) somewhere near edinburgh but its a bit far away now!
  10. It was going to be the kelvinator it really was and the the less tall came up It's simply an amazing guitar I would very much like one of each I'd be happy to own both but my vote went to the less tall.
  11. Current list... A job! A life!
  12. I've yet to see a guitar I don't like on this thread infact I'm going to break in and steal one! Where do you get your wood? somewhere local?
  13. well it is extremely stiff (a necessity for a bike frame!) I think yamaha have built an acoustic from laminate bamboo the only drawback i can see isin its natural form its the wrong shape! but lminated into bars it should as good as carbon fibre! I'll build the bike first!
  14. plain white plastic inlays... not nice isnt bamboo generally quite flexible noits actually incredibly stiff equivalent to carbon fibre (it is infact a natural composit material!) its so strong snd stiff infact that it has bizarre uses.. http://www.calfeedesign.com/bamboo.htm Guess what project I have in the pipeline! not bad for grass!
  15. is that an inlay or tape on the board the picture isn''t quite clear enough! On the subject of carbon rods what about using bamboo rods?
  16. Porta studios still have a lot to offer I think they are just so easy to use and they are a brilliant way to learn how mixing desks and recording should be done properly and effectively. are you using a mixer to power you mics? or are you just using dynamics? The whole mac thing is such an old fashioned notion (unless you want to use topflight protools) if you are used to using PCs I'd stick with them all you need is a decent soundcard once all the dross is removed a regular off the shelf PC nowadays is more than adequit. I built my computer the soundcard cost the same as the whole computer! I have an E-MU 1820 a few years old now but it still goes up to 192khz (not that i've ever used it) and is a PCI card with a breakout box connected by a network cable (here my computer knowledge fails me!) rather than a yucky usb job.
  17. cool! I never find fun guitars on ebay! what's it sound like? and can we see an after shot?
  18. Sounds to me like quality control issues with mass produced guitars. Again I'm not saying you shouldn't use glue I'm just saying that if its done poperly it DOES work perfectly well!
  19. I didn't mean to suggest that you shouldn't use glue just that there are thousands of guitars that don't and have no problems. I'm pretty sure If you took the same number of glue and non glued frets you'd find a fairly even number of fret issues!
  20. +1 if you aren't confident enough to measure it out how can you be confident enough to glue the templates correctly?
  21. I used Hide glue once problem was after I applied it I put it down and now I can't find it!
