  1. Thanks Ill have a look, not sure if theyll be as thin as I want though. Regular thin is about 2mm normaly but I need much thinner.
  2. Anybody know where you can get the thinnest fret wire and how thin it is?
  3. Ok so the the nut Ill be usin is this http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Nuts,_saddles/...tring_Nuts.html and the bridge Ill be using is this http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailp...cs.html#details Its a 24 3/4" scale What else do I need to calculate the angle I need?
  4. Yes there is different routing for all different makes of floyds, look on the official routing thread. Not sure about replacing the nut
  5. You dont remove the truss rod it stays in the neck. It is glued in under the fingerboard and should stay there.
  6. I thought of that but someone said that it would just flake off, if I where to paint it would I just use black autopaint and sand the metal first to give the paint something to grip to?
  7. When I was taking to the tech in a guitar shop he said that that would be realy hard to do if not impossible. I live in Ireland and there arent very many good techs here. There is also a 9 1/2" handle which is 1/2" longer than the chet atkins handle. Ill probably replace the stock handle with one of these. Any ideas on how to make them match black hardware as they only come in chrome. Also any idea on the stiffness of them. Can you losen it up a bit to be as easy to use as a floyd? Lucky1 what are your opinions on the les rem? Is that the one they sell on stew mac? How easy is it to use? I was originaly thinking about these but couldnt find any opinions on them. Any way to make these black?
  8. Yeah I saw that when when I read on the bigsby site that elderly is a good supplier. I was thinking of getting the b500. I just want to know if they are stiff and if you can losen them? Where can I get a thinner handle and possibly longer? How exactly you fit it (spacing wise)? I cant get a floating trem like a floyd or anything because the body wont be thick enough.
  9. Yeah well I was looking at them but if in the end I do go with the bigsby it will be black and I cant find them in black. They would be great otherwise. I have emailed stewmac about ordering in different colours but they said it isnt possible. I was trying out a bigsby today, (doubt it was a genuine cause it was on a Vintage) it seemed realy stiff, is this normal? I dont realy want a stiff trem but my choices are limited because I need a black on floating trem.
  10. Anyone got any thoughts on making the bigsby arm. I know there held on with just a nut, screw and a washer so would I be able to just make a hole the right size in an arm I make or even get like a floyd arm, weld on a washer so it has a flat surface with a hole in it and fit that on? Any thoughts on my way or another way of doing it?
  11. Or a nice cheap B500 would be nice aswel, aswel as a tutorial as too how to fit one properly.
  12. OK I got it working in another browser, looks pretty good for what it is, personaly I dont like Jems so....
  13. I heard that lighter fluid is a good thing to wipe oily wood with to remove the oil.
  14. Wouldnt a roller TOM, locking tuners and either a graphite, slipstone or roller nut solve the tuning problom? Also would it be hard to make an arm for a bigsby. I dont like the chunky standard one and the others ones dont come in black.
  15. I think what that is is that the outline is the wood and the rest is either inlay or a finish. The head is inlayed onto the fingerboard. Not sure but thats what it looks like to me.
  16. For the inlay. Its posted on a thread in inlays and finishing in a topic I started about inlaying wit wood.
  17. Maybe you should have made one copy cut the inlay then used that as a template. Just an idea. Thats the way I plan on doing it.
  18. Thats probably not the exact tuning Ill be using but thats one example that I like (machine head tuning on most of their songs). I want to be able to change between tunings easily enough though so I might use another guitar for this tuning and put baritone strings on it. Anyone know where you can get plans for a Tony Iommi SG right handed? There not on guitarbuild.
  19. I like it. It has a gibson versus BC Rich thing about it.
  20. Youl find out. What about a laminate of Purple heart, bloodwood, and padouk? Heavy? What tones would it be like and what type of fingerboard should I use with it?
  21. Yeah I know there is different tension (thanks anyway) but I was just wondering if there is much of a difference in the tension. I was originaly thinking about using a 25 1/2" length for two reasons, easier playing of higher frets as there is a bigger space and the tension. I preffer a shorter 24 3/4" scale but I want these things were swaying me. I realised that the differnce in the higher fret spacing is so minute that it doesnt realy make that much of a difference so Im thinking of sticking with the 24 3/4" now. I just want to make sure I can use (realy) tuning like B F# B E G# C#
  22. Hey, Just wondering if there is much of a difference in the downtuning capabilities in a 24 3/4" scale compared to a 25 1/2" scale? Thanks.
