  1. ...or you could just lock your Tremol-No, and use your trems fine tuner to drop you to D.
  2. Here's the contact page for DiMarzio: http://www.dimarzio.com/contact/contact.html I suggest an email to them explaining your issues. They have great customer service. Put in the email "Attn: Erik or Steve". Just don't call him 'Mr. Blucher'. :-) Next time I talk to the folks up there, I'll ask about the color situation. For now, I'd call it a lame rumor.
  3. For $3.5K: 1. Cover the shipping, cheapass. It's a guitar; not a pinball machine. 2. FIX THE DAMN PICS! If he's got a $3,500 guitar, he's certainly got Photoshop or some kinda software to turn the pics in the proper direction. Man, my neck hurts. *yawn*CrystalPlanet*yawn* Oh, and expect tone similar to that of a DeWalt with that type of body material. The inlays are cool.

A couple of weeks ago, I picked up a $149 GC-special (their anniversary sale that week) Squire. "Crafted in China"...heh heh....yeah. Ok. Anyway, it's a test guitar for the Tremol-No. Though the Tremol-No requires no modifications to a guitar, I wanted to have a test guitar to show folks how it works on non-Ibanez trems, esp. those tone-less, skinny bietch blocks Fender puts in the Squires (most sold guitar in the US, BTW). For a 1st timer or novice, these are a great way to practice your luthierie and wiring skills. I'm sure pros use them to test out new designs and ideas as well. As Weezerboy said, even if you do an "Aluminator" style to the body, the hardware will still be good. :-)
  5. I had a Yamaha RGX model (many moons ago) that had a height adjustable nut. It was FANTASTIC for setting up a guitar for super-low (or super-high, or "just right") action. It was a couple of millimeters thicker on the fretboard side, with two tiny 2mm set screws in between the Low E and A strings, and the B and High E that touched a metal plate underneath. Worked great.
  6. There are THOUSANDS of other REPUTABLE dealers that are a PLEASURE to deal with. Sure Ed has pretty pics on his site, but so does Maxim Magazine. The guy is the definition of hipocritical and I personally wouldn't buy a cup of dirt from him. I'm not sure what ER is *claiming* he built for famous players, but I'd check both ends of that, thoroughly. ER is discussed in a few other threads here. A Search will yield results. His story has become tiresome. THREAD CLOSED.
  7. StringKilla- YOUR CAPS LOCK IS STUCK. GET IT FIXED BEFORE POSTING AGAIN. THANKS.
  8. Lotass- let's try to keep the "neon under clear pickguard" posts all in one thread. Starting a new topic for each question really clutters up the board, and makes it hard for people to find info. Thanks.
  9. Anywhere between 100 and 200. I'd say that's about average. Funny: In 2000, we went to Vegas. We booked a nice size ballroom at the Sands hotel. The day before the show, the hotel folks said, "The people in the big room just cancelled. Do you guys want the big room for the same price?". We said, "Oh hell yes!". It turned out to be a mixed blessing- the room held over 3000 people; the stage was HUGE, the lighting rig was nice, but.....with a room that size, and only about 90 people, it looks like there were about 7 of us there.
  10. I'll be there. Bank on it. Yes- all my gear will be there too, including all of the guitars. I'm also donating at least (1) Tremol-No to raffle off. Attendance? Hmmm...slightly smaller than your average Freddie Mercury tribute concert. We like it when attendance isn't too massive. Why? It gives folks a chance to talk with the artists the are performing, either before or after their set, in a MUCH more relaxed environment than usual. Some chats I've had in the past are: -Motocross with Rusty Cooley -Cool electronic gagets with Jon Finn -Transmission repair with Eric Sands -Chicks, Beer & Bands with Scott Bradoka and his guys. The performances are fantastic, but for me, my favorite part is the aftershow, all-nighter room jams that take place. *knock*knock* "Hey- It's Rob [balducci]. You guys still jammin'?" That part rocks the hizzouse.
  11. I thought the FAQ on the Tremol-No.com site was clear about this. Apparently not. I guess I have to do a really longass list of the trem systems it *will* work on. Might as well start here: Fender/Vintage 6-screw Fender/Vintage 2-post OFR, Gen.1 F.Rose, Gen.2 F.Rose, Gen.3 F.Rose Low Versions F.Rose Speedloader TRS TRS-101 LO-TRS Wilkinson/Gotoh Hipshot PRS trems Driskill trems Parker P-Series Kahler fulcrum-type trems (all) Kahler Killer Kahler Spyder Kahler 2700 Series (all) Ibanez Edge Ibanez LoPro Edge Ibanez Double Edge Ibanez Edge Pro Ibanez Edge Pro II Schaller -All versions, except LesPaul style. The basic rule is: If you've got springs in the back, it'll work on that guitar. If you have some freaky trem, email me with some pics and I'll let you know if it will work with it or not. If you folks can think of other trem systems that I might have left out, post here and I'll continually update this list. UPDATED 4.27.04 12:55AM EST
  12. Yes. You have to tighten/loosen both screws to lock/unlock, respectively. One screw will work in a pinch, but two is HIGHLY recommended. Ahh...now I remember the joke: PW: Does [butch's trem] float? KG: Like Richard Simmons watching a Bowflex commercial.
  13. Oh, it's not a prediction, my friend.... How about a little bonus for my buddies on ProjectGuitar.com? Here are the pics of the Tremol-No on that PRS I posted about last night: http://www.tremol-no.com/images/TNO-PRS1.jpg http://www.tremol-no.com/images/TNO-PRS2.jpg http://www.tremol-no.com/images/TNO-PRS3.jpg Sorry about the focus thing; the owner is new to the dig. camera world. :-)
  14. ***GUESS*** on time: Summer NAMM. ***GUESS*** on price: More than $5. :-) That's the best I can do right now. Let me know if you have any questions after you finish the thread.
  15. Not totally original, but still kinda cool: http://electricguitar.50megs.com/dana.htm
  16. That Richard Simmons joke was good too. Wish I remembered it. Oh well. The Tremol-No is designed to let you LOCK and UNLOCK your trem. I didn't design a "dive only" feature into it. Why not? Well, most trems are either built to the guitar that way, or setup by the owners that way. The duty really falls on the guitar or guitar owner on what they want their trem to do. Locked or unlocked. That isn't the question; it's the answer. :-) BTW- I just got pics of a Tremol-No Classic (formerly the Vintage) installed in a *minty* PRS Custom22 (the nice set neck one). The guy is running 4 springs and told me it works like a champion. He's absolutely in love with it. Oh, and it installed with NO drilling, routing, sanding, pilot holeing or any other mods. Almost brought a tear to my eye.... :-) Licensing is underway with a HUGE company here in the US. We're still shooting for that Summer NAMM debut...but you know how time S_L_O_W_S down when attorneys get to talking....LOL. We're goin' as fast as we can. Also, Tremol-No Classic test units shipping this week/weekend and Monday/Tuesday. Wha? Who? Huh? Yep. Finally. [EDIT]- Repaired guitar model name. Silly me; it wasn't the $1800 one, it was the $3000 one.
  17. Let's do some site updates first, then get to the rest of the good news... Thanks to Simon for his quote. I'm glad the Tremol-No is working out for you, and helping you be more creative with your guitar. It's cool that it's the only one in the Southern Hemisphere. :-) Also thanks to Jon Finn for his review. Man, is that guy a monster player or what? Frickin' cool guys. I'm lucky to have such awesome players as testers. I sent a Tremol-No Classic to Jim Donahue, a friend of mine for many years. If you don't know who he is, and are a member of this site, shame on you. :-) JD either created or co-created almost every guitar that came out of Ibanez since 1985. He was #2 at Ibanez for many years, and knows guitars and basses inside and out, up and down. He's also one of the 3 people on the planet I would trust to work on any of my guitars. Anyway, Jim got his test unit a week or so ago, and put it on one of his guitars, trying to kill the Tremol-No. He couldn't. His quote is now up on the site as well. He's super-cool. If you get a chance to deal with him, please do. It'll be worth it. Now for the other good news: Licensing is VERY close to taking place with a company here in the US. International stuff might be a while (intl. patents take more time to clear/get filed, shipping issues, etc), but.....there is a GOOD chance that we can get a Summer NAMM debut. You guys likin' that? :-)
  18. If you can, get a socket and grind/sand the face of it flat. Less chance of rounding those little buggers. This also works quite well for machine head nuts (the little guys that attach the tuners to the headstock).
  19. I had this rip-roaring reply written out, then I clicked "Preview Post"...and saw your apology. :-) Apology accepted. I'm not a power-hungry abuser of the moderation tools. I only ask that everyone, including myself, follow the rules that they agreed to. Hell, I've even busted Brian on a couple of occassions. LOL For Future Reference: There's no need to PM me then put up a post 4 minutes later saying the same thing. Please do one OR the other. Better yet, email or IM me. It's much easier and quicker to get ahold of me that way. Posting in public is a waste of your time, my time, Brian's time and that of all the other forum members.
  20. PLEASE stop double-posting your listings. If It continues, I will begin to delete both instead of just one. Thanks. Also, the pics don't load. You might want to check into that.
  21. I posted this in the other thread, but it fits here too: You're better off buying an old(er) Ibanez Double Edge equipped guitar (RG-6-CST, S-6-CST, 2020x, 620x, etc.), and transplanting the trem and preamp from that. It's the only double-locking system ever made. Ibanez does not sell the Double Edge system individually. WARNING: There are a bunch of very sensitive wires in that Double Edge system. Take EXTREME caution when working on/removing them. You could damage something and not even realize it. Oh yeah, and screwing with it will void your warranty. (Isn't that what this site is about- voiding your warranty as quickly as possible? LOL) If you need any help with wiring the Double Edge, or pulling one out, feel free to contact me. Who am I? I'm the guy that drew the wiring diagram that Ibanez sends out to people. :-) Also, forget about stereo jacks and stereo cables with the DE system. There is no stereo panel jack (that's what the jack is called on Ibanez/Jackson guitars). There's not enough room to put stereo/mono switching inside- I've tried. The 9-pin "box jack" that is out there, works on Strats (wtih some chiseling of wood) and a few others, but not on 'super strat' bodies. If you'd like a full description of "what does what" in regards to the wiring of 1st Gen. DE systems, CLICK HERE. A wiring diagram is available upon request. 2nd Gen. DE systems, such as the 620x, have a different preamp, and already have the KJG Wiring Mod done to them. I don't have a drawing for those, yet. :-) L.R.Baggs and Fishman both make Fender-type piezo-equipped bridges, but neither are double-locking (or even single-locking). There are a bunch of threads about this on this Forum. Next time, do a search prior to posting. Thanks.
  22. Those are the Optek FretLight guitars. Pretty cool.
  23. Dex- I just re-read the thread on "that other site". You weren't exactly jumping up and down about the Tremol-No, but thanks for not being 'not-so-subtly negative' like the site owner was/is. :-) Thanks for at least being realistic about it. I have to say though, if it takes you 15 seconds to lock a Tremol-No into place, I need to re-write the instructions. LOL I'm pretty sure your opinion has changed a bit since getting to mess around with Simon's and with Darren's Tremol-No equipped guitars. It shows in your posts here. I've gotten feedback from testers that go both ways regarding trem flutter with a Tremol-No installed. Some say "It's still there; good as before", and some have said, "It's a little bit less, but still just fine for what I need it to do.". The Tremol-No is a bit touchy when it comes to installing it, but to get it 'absolutely perfect' isn't far away from 'works great'. Like anything in the guitar world, with a little tweaking, you'll be able to get it setup exactly where you want it. When's the last time you plugged into a guitar store amp and it was set 'just right'? :-) I'd like to hear your thoughts on "feel" once you've shifted that spring from slot #4 to #3 (or #5, whichever way you go). Since the angle of the spring pull is NOT changing, the feel of the trem shouldn't change either as no tension is being added or subtracted. Either way, let me, or all of us here, know. Thanks! Hotrock- Sure man! I'd love to hear your idea. I've tried to incorporate a TremSetter-type 'return to zero' function in my upgrades to the Tremol-No, but...I'm very content goin' with the "simple is good" function is has now.
