  1. thanks for the advice..I'll probably do that.. Don't mean to hijack the thread but... Grommit, it's time to hit the books...have you been to the main Project Guitar site? Start your reading there, lots of tutorials and info for you...and try to pick up a copy of the Melvyn Hickock book. This is a very basic question you're asking. Then start searching the forums using plenty of keywords. Spend a few weeks reading up on this. Aidlook--I'm really enjoying this thread, great work so far... Thankx Mickguard...always nice to hear people enjoy what you're posting... Got some fretwire yesterday..and this is how it turned out. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1244.jpg This is the last post from you that I EDIT!!! You did well on the 1st page, what happened, got picture happy!
  2. With the neck do you mean the fingerboard or the entire neck including tenon and stuff.. You could just rout around the outside obviously..but since it's cut all the way thru you could do it with a jigsaw... here's a new progress picture..
  3. We've got those in our bathroom...
  4. Some progress.. shaping of neck is pretty much finished...the fretboard is now glued on.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1219.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1230.jpg
  5. Progress on the fretboard!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1210.jpg One problem though..got a little chip by one of the fretslots.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1212.jpg What would be the best way to try to repair this??
  6. I don't think it would do that, but it would change the characteristics of the fields somehow. Whether that is good bad or indifferent, I have no idea. Since it's a humbucker, I think it can handle a small reduction in the output. If it were a single coil, I would think that it would cause serious problems with dropout on string bending and that sort of thing. Yep that's what I meant..change the caracteristics...Will you lose a lot of output though?..because your not really recucing the size of the actual magnet...
  7. wouldn't hollowing out the polepieces change the direction of the magnetic field in some way?
  8. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1182.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1185.jpg
  9. Got the neck joint finished today...it's hanging there without any glue or screws.. Now It's on to getting some fretwire and attaching the fretboard...fixing the headstock shape of wich I'm not yet shute...might go with an old Hagström style headstock...and oh, gotta find some wood for the front and back... sideview http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1173.jpg back neckjoint http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/aidlook/PICT1174.jpg Remember, 1 pic per post!
  10. Yep I've seen those...Was thiniking of the possibilities of modifiyng one of those..but I realized that I never use a trem anyway...I'm gonna make a string thru and put the strings where the rout for the trem cavity would be...so if I change my mind later I can put a trem on it.
  11. routed the trussrod and shaped the neck...have started to rout neck pocket as well
  12. routed out cambers now...cleaned them up since this picture
  13. Sweet... Where do you get your hardware? I saw a trem + bridge on a site for €800...I could get a Fender USA strat for that price....Is there any cheaper ones or do I have to make them myself?
  14. I think I'm gonna buy adeson trisonics...and just do the same phase and on/off switching May has.
  15. Of course-gotta stay true to the original might not use the same tremolo as may though...
  16. I cut up a piece of oak and glued the pieces together. Cut the bodyshape out roughly and I'm halfway through shaping the edges with an orbital sander. It sucks...the wet patches on the pictures are actually sweat that was dripping from my forhead. Guess what type of guitar it's gonna be... other angle
  17. Yep Solid Works...I'm pretty much self thaught.. Was a long time ago since i did the neck..but I just got the dimensions of the JEM neck from the Ibanez website... Yep...the headstock is just something from another design I threw on there so it looked complete...definately gonna change that....good pointers though... Thanx
  18. When I started to design it the first thing I wanted was symmetrical horns and waist, so I don't think I'll change that. The neck dimensions are the ones of a jem neck so I suppose that it would play well. I think the body is quite thin at the moment. Are any specific woods good if you want to make a thinner body?
  19. How do you like this design?...Think it's gonna be my first from-scratch build... Does it look all-right or does some stuff need to be changed to get it to play good?
  20. ...or just download solidworks...
  21. I heard Leo Fender didn't play guitar himself...
  22. Nirvana but no Guns??, no queen, led zeppelin, deep purple or black sabbath??
  23. Sverige regerar fan!!! Hmm...Do you know any good places to get some nice wood in Sweden?
