  1. Can anybody give me Ibanez RG wiring scheme?
  2. Today I went to buy epoxy glue, and the guy told me that he believes that polyurethane glue is better for wood. Is that true? Did anybody used that succesfully?
  3. Measure the lenght between the nut and the bridge, then use the 18 rule to calculate fret position.
  4. What are the differences between one-piece necks and laminated ones?
  5. I think there's no problem with the floyd rose routing. Let more experienced people answer to the first question...
  6. I don't think that it will work. The notes produced by the string come from the side of the bridge. If put your finger on the second fret, and you have the pick-up in the first, you'll hear a very high note, because the pickup will capture the vibration of the part of the string near the nut.
  7. He's talking about Al Pitrelli. Well, Guitar_God, I don't think Pitrelli is a shitty guitarist. Maybe he didn't fit into Megadeth as Marty did, but he was in Savatage too. And, I heard "Rude Awakening", the live album of Megadeth, and he can play Marty's solos pretty good. The only thing to complain is that in solo writing, at least for Megadeth's songs, Marty was more succesful than Al.
  8. Marty Friedman (ex-Cacophony, ex-Megadeth)
  9. So I don't have to spend a fortune to buy a band saw! My uncle got a jig saw, it could be good (at least for now). But can it cut through hardwood? I'm going to use maple for the neck of my guitar, and it seems very strong.
  10. Is it possible to cut out a guitar using a jig saw? I remember that in some part of his book Melvyn Hiscock says that he used a jig saw because he didn't have a band saw.
  11. That would not be a problem because I just was thinking of making an angled headstock, and I have a retainer bar too.
  12. Hi all, there is another couple of stupid questions from your friend Alchool: 1) If make a recessed route for floyd rose bridge, will I need to angle the neck on a neck-through guitar? And now this is the most stupid question: 2) How do I insert the studs? Ok, you can stop laughing now
  13. The main reason is because it's hard to find a piece big enough to make an entire body from it. At least I think. Warmoth produces one-piece bodies, but they are more expensive, so I think is for that reason.
  14. Thanks, I knew that Slayer used EMG-81, but I just wanted to know what of the two pickups mentioned above is the best.
  15. What of these pick-ups is better sounding clean and distorted, and what you think it's the best for slayer-like thrash metal? Seymour Duncan Duncan Custom or DiMarzio Evolution?
  16. I hate headless guitars, and I hate headstocks without tuners. I think that new speedloader will not become as popular as the Original Floyd Rose (recently I got one and I love it even if it's not mounted yet ), so hopefully weird-shaped headstocks will remain unusual.
  17. Thank you. But are them the standard versions or OEM versions made for Ibanez?
  18. Where can I find some pics of non-black-or-white DiMarzio Pickups? I'm mainly interested in green, violet and blue.
  19. Bowser... I'm two years older than you and I'm in the same situation, so... GOOD LUCK!!
  20. I need your opinion for this: Is it easier to make a glued-on or a straight-through neck? If I use for example a maple neck glued on a mahogany body, and maple neck through a mahogany body, the sound of the two guitar will be too different from each other? P.S. If my english is horrible it's because I'm italian.
  21. Thank you all. So, I'll start shielding her...
  22. Hi all, I'm new here. I need some help. I got a guitar from a friend of mine (unknown brand but good body wood). I paid it about $20 third hand . When I raise the volume up on my amp she starts making feedback. What could the problem be? Thanks.
