  1. I actually kind of like this one! better than yesterday!
  2. Cool deal! I was wondering what happened to this project, WELCOME back! Its looking good.
  3. Thanks for all the nice comments, I just put another coat on, this will be coat number 3 and the curl in the maple and redwood is poppin out like crazy! the redwood is soaking up the poly though so I see this being a 2 stage affair.
  4. Shes in the process of getting sprayed right now!!
  5. Got the control cavity done and made a cocobolo cover for it. If it looks larger than normal its because its going to have 2 nine volts and my fiberoptic setup under it along with an active EQ. Also got the tummy cut just about where i want it maybe a little deeper?
  6. Had to go with Setch, Godin very close second, a toss up really, the detail in all are excellent!
  7. IT that darn Romanos, gay skin creator that he is!! (see very top of page)
  8. Yeah it still needs lots of work there.
  9. I shaped the body some more today and got all the routing done on the front. Frets are leveled and crowned too. (plays GREAT) I also started grain filling the paduak and routing the rear control cavity. Im hoping to finish it this weekend. Dont lack much just minor sanding and then spraying.
  10. For a fretless, personally would put a some tension on the neck with the truss and then resand the fingerboard flat, then when you loosen the truss again you will have some relief bow. Welcome to the forum!
  11. The venners are maple and walnut im not sure of the thickness They came from rockler.com and they dont give very good specs. I would say about .030 of an inch maybe a little less. Heres the fingerboard. Its bare bones, cocobolo with no inlay, but I installed fiberoptic side markers. It will polish out to look like the piece next to it. Ill post pics more once completed
  12. I also made some pickup covers out of the maple and redwood when i glued them up i forgot to add the venners.
  13. heres the back showing the scarf better, I started the volute too. All in all I think its turning out allright even though it was completly unplanned....its unique to say the least Yeah i know, I'll do it eventually using this design. Headless hardware is so high. I need a mill so i can make my own!
  14. Ive gotten alot done. cocobolo boards on and fretted, I ran out of dough so i decided to go with a headstock, I scarf jointed a piece of curly maple on the neck with some venners and capped it with some more flamed redwood and heres what i got. Still a little rough around the edges, but getting there
  15. The reputation isnt very good..
  16. I was told the devil in the video is actually Dave Grohl of the Foo FIghters....and the guitar is gay
  17. Thanks, Im thinking i like the paduak so much that my next project will have that for a top. The flamed redwood super easy to work, but it doesnt have the hardness that most figured woods have. Ill go with a urethane finish to harden it up
  18. Yeah I really like the Alembics, so thats a compliment. I do admit that they had alot to do with my bottom horn design but I honestly did those more or less for a recess for the headless setup i was going to use. If not for that I would have just used a standard shape.
  19. I think number 5 is the best choice, cause its not too much and not too little. Sweet project too by the way!
  20. I got the top glued down, and i started carving it today. I need some more sanding drums to finish shaping the inside horns and such. Im happy with how the veneers came out. Im going to route my pickup holes before i carve any more. Im wanting the carve to go to at least the pickup/bridge area. But we'll see how that all works out. The veneers Another view showing how much work i have left!
  21. Wow! very nice. i love the purfling and binding, GOTM for sure
  22. That bass is sweet cant wait to see it with neck and all.
  23. Started joining the top, Im in the process of glueing it up now. The top from lmi required alot of planing to get matched, also the way it was cut i couldnt get the flames perfectly even without recutting it.
