  1. sweet, I'm gonna try it! So exatly what would this do? Give you infinate sustain out of one note? (ie hit it and it goes on forever?) Or just change your tone and make it sustain more but not infinate.
  2. ok I drew this up. Is this correct? I am aware that it would only work on the bridge pickup and I want it like that
  3. I dont really see how you incorporate this Into your guitar. So the 2 blue things are the pickups and the switch is the pickup selector. and the output is going into the peizo? Do you just run another wire from your switch to the chip and leave all your stock wireing the way it is? Ok recap, You put yogether the peizo speaker and the chip the way the schematic says, than run the ground side of the peizo into the the pickups ground and the other end into the output of the chip. Than you run one "hot" wire from the output of your switch to the chip, and you dont move the output thts already going out from your switch and into your amp? SO all you do is put 1 wire to ground(peizo) and run 1 new hot wire from switch to the switch. O and what value of capaciter? and I quote "Basically we are taking a small little peizo and single supply chip and a single capacitor and making a feedback sustainer pickup" What value of cap? BTW the cap is the symbol in the lower right corner.
  4. you seriesly need a way cool headstock to go with that. The one there just doesent look good or go with the body.
  5. Ok I have a really stupid question, What exatly is a carrie burst?
  6. holy crap, I just checked out the prices on the graphtech thing and it would cost a TON to get what I want, so I think i'm just going to go with teh baggs and just have peizo.
  7. ya I think it's really cool that it's routed from the rear and not the top. If I ever do a swamp ash guitar ill do it like that...
  8. dude you diddnt even check out the main site first and just went to the forum? Here it is geez
  9. Man I've been looking for this. I havent been able to find anythign about this anywhere, and man It turned out GREAT! I love it Hold on one more thing, I am going to add a lr baggs T-bridge (loaded with peizos) and am trying to figure out how to use it like the roland pickup... SO basicly, how the hell are you gonna wire it up to work like you said? because that is EXATLY the setup that I wanted. btw I just checked out your site and WOW, you have a great talent there
  10. thanks alot phil, Ya i've been doing wood working for a LONG time and have been playing guitar for a long time also, so I figured why not combine the 2? ya as long as I take it slow I think it will be fine. I already have a template exatly like the one drak posted. This weekend i'm going to go and buy the mahogany and start on the body. Due to a lack of funds I will be working on the body a time before I get enough to buy the neck and hardware, and top (sigh) This might take a long time. I'm looking at about a year or two if i'm lucky. O and also I have tons of time in the paint booth doing model cars. So I know how to paint good so doing a burst shouldent be too much of a problem... Also the "sunburst" will be more like the Tom anderson burst where Its not very much of a burst, More green than anything...
  11. ya idch thats exatly what mines gonna look like (hopefully cleaner )
  12. also if yo uget the highest gauge you can on acoustic you'll find your electric playing comes so much more easily. I would deffinatly go with a high gauge just for the tone alone. Your fingers will build up so it doesent hurt(and if yo uwimp out before that your a sissy )
  13. ok here goes, im starting my first project. A semi holobody (my own body and headstock design). It will me a 23" scale and have mahogany back 1/4" figured maple top, Flamed maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. It's gonna be finished in green, The back will be real dark (almost black) green, the maple top will be a nice green burst fading to black around the edges, The neck will be lightly stained green and shoot with satin clear. It Will be wired with 4 single coils placed next to each other so it looks like it auccually has 2 humbuckers, It will have a switch to switch from single coils or turn the singel coils into humbuckers! (basicly a coil split but with a single coil sound that no split humbucker can match) Its gonna just have 1 volume, 1 tone, 1 3 way to choose pickups, and a 2 way to select beteween humbucker and single coil. Its gonna have this Peizo loaded bridge recessed into the body so you dont need a neck angle. It's gonna be a string through that looks like the Godin LG It's also gonna have these tuners (in black) Also since its gonna have a 1/4" maple top, i'm gonna do nautraul binding like this What yall think? I got a question, If im making it semihollow (and i am ) Do I leave a peice of solid wood all the way down the body? Or do I stop the soild peice right after the bridge and make everything under the bridge(the lower bout) hollow also? All hardware will be black.
  14. ok so im going to build a guitar with mahogany back/sides and figured maple top. I want to do a a green burst on the maple and a real dark green stain on the back. What I was thinking is I could just buy this for the stain and than just put it on alot of coats on the back to get the desired darkness. On the top I would stain it until I like the color than spray the black around the sides to make the burst with this. Than shoot the whole thing (minus the neck) with this clear.
  15. thanks algee, I think I will use it considering I was worried about my guitar(my own design) being much to body heavey as it has a big body all behind the bridge. So I think the extra weight would deffinatly be a good thing. I'll probally use madagascar eboney due to its color(orange streaks) you can see some madagascar ebony here
  16. WOW Thats some nice quilt, If I were you I would have done it deep green burst... o so nice
  17. ok im building a guitar and want to make the neck ebony with a rosewood fingerboard. Is this a good idea? Do I have to put any finish on the ebony?
  18. thanks for the link dugz ink, I have prety much decided to go with tung oil...
  19. ok I think I got it now, The small single throw switch just cuts the two coils when I flip it. Would it be a problem that when in humbucker mode both coils are grounded? 513 schematic I did just what you said "all you have to do is wire a DPST to short the middle wire splice on each humbucker to ground"
  20. ok I'm prety sure I have it figured out, or at least got something that will get me the same place. Check this out. When you flip the switch the single coils next to each other are wired in series and work like a humbucker, when you flip it the other way it turnes off the two coils and makes it work just like a regular strat. No matter where the 2 way switch is the 5 way works just like stock just insted of having one single coil for neck and bridge it has a "humbucker" there. Do you think this would work? Do I have it wired up to the switch correctly?
  21. dude seriously check this out, scroll down and it shows pics of what these guys are talking about. Seriously, get this guys book... O also about the saddels being in a different place, move one (doesent matter which one) to the center posistion, and from there It should be the same distance from the saddle to the 12th fret as from the 12th fret to the nut.
  22. ok so I have a takamine nautraul series that has a very "smooth" satin finish on it that looks beautiful. I am building a swamp ash strat that I want that same smoothness on. How would I go about getting this? So I just need to tung oil it(in which case I wouldent fill the grain). Or do I need to fill the grain and spray somekind of satin finish on it? something such as this? thanks alot
  23. dude you can get a REAL gibson SG for $650 Its a Faded SG Special, They sound great and are good quality. Hope you get one you like
