    Amp Fans

i just got a marshall dsl 40 amp and its amazing and worth every penny! but i have been reading online that some people are having over heating issues with the amps 4 tubes. i have yet to come across this problem and hope to never see it but just as a pre-caution should i by like some computer fans and put them in the back blowing air on the tubes to keep them cool? if so wouldent this cool the tubes down some and effect the tone cause i know tubes need to warm up to give you those legendary marshall tones but at the same time i dont need this amp breaking on me and solder joints loseing up and stuff?
  2. i bought i 5th spring so now i have 5 springs in with the claw screw maxed and the 6 screws on the front are tight and when i put strings on it and tune it up to standard that back still raises, its raises very little but its enough to make me un-happy so with the back raised up like 2/64th and losend all 6 of the front screws up just a bit and that brought that bridge back down in the back for some reason? but then the front wasent 100% on the body?
  3. allright thats it, final straw! its getting a block!!!! brought her down to the local music store and told thier tech guy what was going on so he just tightned the claw even more and tightned down the front 6 screws more and i left happy as could be knowing that this thing wasent moving from now on. get home. pluged in. start playing and playing lead stuff i like to stretch alot! and next thing you know the back of the bridge is like 1.16th off the body. i was like damn! this is just crazy! so i took the strings off and that brought it back down, then put new ones on and tuned it up and the bridge is great now. its only when i stretch them to a higher note than they start off as thats when i think the bridge goes crazy. so the only thing left i guess is to block it. now whats the hardest wood i can buy?

    Best Mic

the sure 57 sounds great i did some research and alot of people use it to record and mic up amps and cabs etc. i will be useing my marshall dsl401 to mess around with recording, i have been playing for 6 years now but this is my first time playing around with recording and i really dident want to spend over like 50 on a mic... so i'll keep looking i guess
  5. oh okay so the block of wood is going to act as the springs for now on correct? take and leave the springs out?
  6. i just changed the string on my guitar for the first time since i dropped the bridge and the while in the process of changin strings the back of the trem raised up dramaticly and i had to screw the claw in even more to get it back flush whats going? what i did was losein the 6 screws in the front of the bridge and then i screwed in the claw intill the bridge was flush and then i simply screwed the 6 front screw back in intill the were snug with the bridge, thats right?
  7. yea toddler thats right but since i dont use my trem at all im looking to set my bridge down tight against the body making it somewhat of a hardtail. but for some reason when i changed strings the back end of the bridge popped up
  8. and they leave the wood block in permentily? so thiers not a way to set it so its tight against the body and i stays like that no matter if you have strings on the guitar or not?
  9. i just changed the string on my guitar for the first time since i dropped the bridge and the while in the process of changin strings the back of the trem raised up dramaticly and i had to screw the claw in even more to get it back flush whats going? what i did was losein the 6 screws in the front of the bridge and then i screwed in the claw intill the bridge was flush and then i simply screwed the 6 front screw back in intill the were snug with the bridge, thats right?

    Best Mic

whats the best mic to use to mic an amp for recording? condenser or dynamic?
  11. damn, well when you go to gigs and shows and stuff im sure thier switching between amps how do they cut all that hum out?
  12. i got the morley aby switch and when i switch to just my marshall i get a nasty hum from that crappy laney but when i switch to the laney and the marshall is no on its totally silent so its just the crappy amp but oh well
  13. get the double because you will be able to adjust forward bow as well as relief and you dont need to depend on the strings as much to achieve a straight neck. and its only adjustable from one side, like all truss rods, exepct you can mount it however you want but most prefer to mount it so it adjust at the headstock so you dont have to take the neck off (assuming you have a bolt-on) to make your adjustments
  14. hey i just pulled my old laney hc25 out the closet im gonna start useing it for my clean amp when i record its got a really great sounding clean channel but its got a hi input jack and a low input jack whats the technical diffrence between two?
  15. cool thanks, whats a good company that makes them?
  16. okay right now i have one amp but im going to pick my new marshall up tommow and im wondering if i can switch between amps while i play like right now i have my pedals running into my one amp but when i get my new one can i want to be able to switch between amps but still have the pedals in effect? sorry if i dident explain it well
  17. please dont go to radio shack and get leds go to www.lsdiodes.com their cheaper and better quailty and are about 3 time brighter, non difused, and have a maximum voltage of 4.5 volts before they blow! r/s leds can only handle 2.1v!
  18. im just curiouse about the about how and how good a trem to hardtail bridge conversion would be? im talking like fill up the trem cavity and drilling and installing a hardtail on my prs? i love my prs but i know i would love it even more in a hardtail version i just dont know how hard it is or how complicated as far as presise measurements
  19. i would go gloss black paint with a double silver leaf pin strip going right down the middle and rub the silver leaf if with a twisting motion to give it that old school macined aluminum look
  20. i droped it and although i dont notice a major diffrence in sound i do notice a diffrence in sustain and i really love it even that much more now, i should have droped it 3 years ago when i got it! perhellion you said some people make a wood block for droping down a tremelo bridge, can you go more into that for me?
  21. yea it worked a added another spring so i have 5 now and i tightend the claw and that brought that back right down
  22. i use 10's and have 4 springs on now so i will try to tighten the claw a bit to see it that works, thanks
  23. a couple years back a guy i knew at a local music store who was also thier tech was setting my strat up and since he knew i barely ever used my tremelo on the guitar he suggested that i just set the bridge all the way down to increase the sustain on the guitar , and i told him to go ahead and do it and and i love it. okay now to make a long story short he moved and i tried to do the same thing with my prs today and the front of the bridge is against the body but the back of it is still slightly raised? i would like to get it completly against the body, but how do i get the rear end of the bridge down??? _thanks guys
  24. yea i figure while im in it im gonna replace the stock pick ups with some gibson 57' classics so it should be nice when all said and done! wish me luck
