  1. Welp, I've decided to start planning for my next guitar. I made the decision to go with my own design which would be: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Mar...l/hadesgood.jpg (Don't mind the sad excuse for pickup drawings and TOM drawing and yes i know, the angle of the bridge is wrong haha) If any of you have an opinion on my design, or can suggest some changes, I'll hear you out. For hardware: All Gold Gotoh Tuners LR.Baggs Piezo TOM Seymour Duncan SH JB set 1 tone 1 vol. and one 3 way selector String thru ferrules (sp?) It's going to be ALL Flame Maple, and Im want this guitar to be really thin, so I'm going to try for 1". I might make it a set neck (PRS Style). One question though. If I have a piece of wood that is 2 1/16" thick, could I get a 1" bookmatched set? Thanks
  2. Hey, Im planning on making a nice maple amp but am also planning on buying a pre-assembled chassis + Electronics (don't feel like risking my life yet). theres one Randall on ebay going pretty cheap http://cgi.ebay.com/Randall-Bluesman-proje...1QQcmdZViewItem but is there anywhere else I can find a good, cheap assembled chassis thats quite loud? Thanks
  3. Hi, I'm looking to purchase either a bookmatched flame or quilt body set. They must be 19" long x 14 (or so)" wide x 1" - 1 1/4" thick. What I'm aiming for is to make a super thin with all highly figured maple. I will also settle for a piece that is around 19"long x 8" wide x 2 1/2"-2 3/4" wide. Name your price, I have paypal Thanks a lot
  4. Thanks a lot guys, I had some complications with my other guitar which is the reason why i designed my own. I made so many mistakes on my last project that i learned enough to make a sucessful guitar...that is if i dont have to try new things (AKA neck angles). Ill probably buy a TOM and use a piece of scrap wood to make sure everything will work...good ol' pine to the rescue oh, do you guys have any methods of recessing properly? im guessing a router bit and a template...
  5. Hi, I know if you have a tune-o-matic bridge, you have to angle the neck. But I remember someone pointing out Carvin recessing their tune o matics, but if you go through all this trouble, do you still need to make a neck angle but only a smaller one?
  6. agreed, looks awesome though, keep up the good work
  7. is it weird that i have NEVER seen this guitar design before yet my new design sort of looks like it?
  8. ( If I missed this) that bridge is a quadmatic bridge made by BC Rich. if you want one, here... http://cgi.ebay.com/BC-Rich-Bridge-Vintage...1QQcmdZViewItem
  9. is there even such thing as a black signature zakk wylde les paul? dotn get me wrong, these copies are really nice looking, and could fool MOST people, so dont put your self down for this even if you cant get your money back. I'd buy one if it was located in Canada and was maybe an explorer
  10. if you want simplicity, try the Line 6 UX2. http://www.zzounds.com/item--LINTPUX2 it's not really software but it is really cool and very simple
  11. Hi does anyone know where I can find a cheapish NJ stealth? any condition is fine also. Thanks
  12. title says it, i got paypal so name your price thanks
  13. like i said in my mockingbird thread, i made one side of the taper to wide on my neck. if the nut width is 43mm and the heel is 60 mm, could i squeeze in 7 strings to compensate the extra width on the high e side?
  14. yeah i also noticed the 99euros of insurance....plus, i cant buy a guitar with the amount of money in my paypal account
  15. http://cgi.ebay.ca/Gibson-Les-Paul-Guitar-...1QQcmdZViewItem i am suprised, too bad they are all the way in china i mean, he even has a serial number on the headstock
  16. very beautiful, good work....hows it sound?!
  17. seymour duncan, by the sounds of it, doesnt seem like they care about their dealers to much or else i would be holding those pickups right now. now im waiting for my money to come back all because of terrible sales rep's. i dont think he will have any trouble if i spread this around since he already did to get his 20 customers, thanks for your concern though oh and a new nut wont help since i just plainly screwed up on the neck taper...didnt double check
  18. those are beautiful, but it looks like i may have to break down and make one myself
  19. i know how to make necks. what i was planning on doing is buying the set of explorer templates from guitarbuildingtemplates.com. i wish they'd include the neck's side template like the les paul templates they have. i guess i could make another neck, the only real trouble i have is making a proper scarf joint. the picture on the home page didnt really help me since ive tried it two times and they both looked like shite. i dont like the thought of buying necks since i might as well just buy the whole guitar, but then i could examine how a set neck works and id have the fretwork and inlays done.
  20. im looking for a gibson explorer style set neck. does anyone got a neck lying around or a beat up epiphone that the neck could be extracted from? if not, id also be interested in a mahogany set neck blank thanks
  21. i guess i could ask another question here. when angling the neck in a set neck, should i do it in the mortise or is it better to get a thick neck blank and angle the whole neck?
  22. EDIT: my bad, i googled and found the mortise is 3/4" deep. that answers my question
  23. hey, ummmm the neck was almost finished so i decided to do a test string up. i put the low e string on first. everything looked fine, the string followed the fretboard perfectly. then i put on the high e....it's no where near 1/8" along the fretboard. anyone got any suggestions on how i could make a new neck fit the existing neck pocket? or what? firewood?
