I think I'll go for the scarf joint way, unless there are any serious drawbacks, simply because I really dislike non-angled headstocks (yeah, I know, the classic Vs usually don't have angled headstocks, but, whatever), and it's not very likely that I'll ever build a strat style guitar, since I really dislike the design, both aesthetically (sp??) and functionally (can't hang at the angle I like, no upper fret acces, annoying that you have to unsolder the output jack to get the pickguard loose).
So, what would I have to do? Remove the fretboard, cut the scarf joint, find another piece of wood, glue it on there, and shape to my liking?
