  1. So I have massive amounts of nice shells. but my question it, how do I flatten the curved and rough shell so that i can cut an inlay out of it?
  2. looks nice! Nice engraving, can't even see the MOP joint, great work
  3. nice work, especially the top, you can't even tell its 4 piece! Don't you hate dad's that don't trust you or don't think you can do it by yourself. Build is looking great, keep up the good work
  4. yeah i was tempted to get a new guinea rosewood neck blank off ebay for like $10. It looked nice too, but i missed it. That neck looks really nice too. Where are you getting your wood from? I can get wood that cheap over the internet in Australia but then you have to add on all the shipping costs etc.
  5. any chance of you building the neck?
  6. looks exactly like a Modern Eagle besides a few things... I love that shape anyway, the timber look nice, so cut away!
  7. im going to do a cheapish but good quality first build just to build up my skills a bit, although I can use all of the tools But for my good one i'm planning, i wanted a Tasmanian Blackwood body & Neck, with a Master Grade tassie blackwood top from Aus Tonewoods and a rosewood fretboard. I've just been looking at australian timber websites since i don't have a lumber yard or anything around me. (for the cheaper first build its going to have a maple neck for ease of carving and just getting used to carving a neck) Sorry if i hijacked your thread
  8. another reason to make me feel bad about starting my new guitar. I wanna build one sooo much but I'm looking for the correct wood etc
  9. i don't wanna copy the whole guitar, just the string through thing. Can you tell me how it works out?
  10. yeah, but it looks cool and i wanna do it on one of my builds now. I just need to know if its going to work.
  11. thats some nice mahogany in the first picture. Honduran?
  12. man you are a project machine! haha Loving the f hole design
  13. thats what i thought, but this guys not doing ferrules :/
  14. so you don't actually need ferrules? Just a metal plate on the back of the guitar?
  15. uhhh, is that the real neck in its position? And, is it alright to have the string through holes plain wood without ferrules?
  16. its good to see people go that extra bit to make everything look nice.
  17. that looks very nice, how did you get the cavity cover to get the same grain pattern? Oh and, how much did that top set you back?
  18. i like the look of the cocobolo. Wait, i thought you didn't build necks?
  19. this is coming along nicely! Hows the body weight? Do you think you could way it for me? I'm doing a build with the exact same timbers as you except for the maple in the neck and I am wondering about the weight.
  20. very nice, i love the wood choices, especially for the neck. Can i ask how you rounded the edges?
  21. looks nice! where'd you get your wood?
