  1. I use Microsoft Paint as well as Powerpoint. In Powerpoint, I blow the pic up to the desired % and then move it around in 4 separate slides to get 4 quadrants of the full size body. View the slide show to see what each corner will look like to see you have the whole image. Print out 4 pages, then tape together.
  2. Yeah, I remember that post/pic when you put it up. I was wondering if you had made any progress on that one. Unfortunately, I started to rout the body shape out and my router bit broke, so no progress yet. Hopefully, by the end of the week I'll have a lot more done.
  3. Cool. I'd love to see your progress as well. Here's those two pics:
  4. Thanks for the advice. Actually, the lower large knots on the left in the pic are being completely cut out. My template was purposely made small enough so that the bottom of the guitar comes within 1/2" of those knots. If you look closely also, there are two small wormholes on the right. Those will also not be in the body because the curves of the body come in far enough to eliminate those as well. I got lucky on that one. I'll attach a pic of the shape of the guitar drawn on the bookmatched top to show this. Since you're more advanced than I, if you wouldn't mind checking that out and letting me know if you think that would cause problems I'd greatly appreciate it. Your work is awesome. Particularly your blue maple tops in your 'blue oh so blue' post.
  5. I just started a hollowbody project. I'm going to do a Gibson ES 175 style body. Here are some specs: Honduran Mahogany Back Flame Maple Top (thanks fryovanni) Trapeze style tailpiece Tune-o-matic bridge, blocked Mahogany neck (purchased from the -bay) Ducan '59's with chrome covers Dual sound or F holes No pick/scrape guard (I want to see as much flame as possible) Haven't decided on stain, but I have amber. Check out the pic of the maple and I'll take suggestions. Deft laquer finish on top, but may only tung oil the mahogany back, undecided. Here's some preliminary pics of the wood and gluing the top together: You can slightly make out my template above in this pic. I used an internet pic, blew it up in Microsoft Paint, then printed the 4 quadrants off on typing paper, then taped them together to get the right size.
  6. I'm looking for a Dimarzio DP-158 neck position Evolution pickup in white for a Steve Vai "Bad Horsie" project I'm rebuilding an old RG 550. If you have one for sale, PM or e-mail me. Thanks.
  7. I'm looking for a maple on maple Strat neck with a locking Floyd nut or routed for one. C shaped back or thick. Basically, like a classic Van Halen neck on his Frankenstein. Could be a Charvel version as well. Trying to spend under $125 if possible. Please PM or e-mail if you have one for sale.
  8. They will probably match up, but usually it's a good idea to get those dimensions ahead of time. If the heel of the neck is too big, you can always sand the pocket of the body a little on each side, or the heel of the neck.
  9. I added the progress on the body. Let me know what you think. It is actually going to have a single coil in the neck position, but I put a black pickup ring there to show a rough idea. Also, I'll probably do a string through body instead of the stop tailpiece pictured. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/t1r12003/album?.dir=/9bb8
  10. How about the bottom of the Musiclander into the top of the twisted SG? shown on Warmoth's website here: http://www.warmoth.com/showcase/sc_guitar_...&subMenuItem2=0
  11. Thanks for the comments. I'll cut out the body with what I have, then post the pics. I can always cut away more, but can't add.
  12. Here's my idea for a twisted SG. Let me know what you think. http://photos.yahoo.com/t1r12003 It will be a black walnut body with a spalted maple top. I have the body blank and I'm waiting for the top to come in the mail. I'll keep updating the progress as I get the materials.
  13. By the way, that wood is awesome. It'll make an amazing instrument. I've been trying to find some spalt wood with figuring that has an image such as that.
  14. Is it me or does that spalt pattern look like a moose with a fro?
  15. fryovanni, you have really nice stuff. i sent you an e-mail to check on how to order. i bought a body to refurbish and wanted to turn it into a semi hollow body with a flame maple top. i got my eye on a piece you have posted. let me know. i'm dying to get a project posting started on the site.
