  1. Yea, I know now that the angle is cut before the shape. But I can't do anything to it. (Of course thing below can be done:P) They say that you learn from your own mistakes. I made few calculations and now I'm that the neck blank isn't thick enough. I made a decision. I know it doesn't sound nice but I thought it's the best option for me. So I'm planning to cut the headstock off and make a scar-joint headstock. What do you think? Am I crazy? Maybe I am... -Juze aka Ghroath
  2. Actually I've gotten some progress on this guitar. BUT since I don't have pictures I've not posted anything. But wings have been cut to shape and next thing I should do is make some jig to make angle to peghead/headstock. But it has already been cut to shape so would you recommend to make a desired headstock angle jig for the router? I think I'm making ctrl cavity and pickup templates here at home with crappy jig-saw and dremel. Maybe I'll try to get pictures sometime. -Juze aka Ghroath
  3. WOAH! Those are some nice presses . I want one too! BUT since I'm not a guitar-builder, it would be mostly waste-of-money to me. -Juze aka Ghroath
  4. Boundsteelblues just quoted you without quote-marks. This build looks nice. I Like RG-style bodies. Oh, and nice colored woods there. -Juze aka Ghroath
  5. Yes, it's just that easy : ) -Juze aka Ghroath
  6. Reply to and old post... I tested today the holes of those tuners. And .085 string fitted through it so there will be no problem about 7th string. : ) -Juze aka Ghroath
  7. Aaah! Tomorrow I can continue my build. But I have 1 question. I have already sawed outlines to the neckblank and headstock but I didn't saw the headstock angle. How would you recommend to do that? Make a jig for desired angle and draw lines using that and then bandsaw? -Juze aka Ghroath
  8. Heh, I had great urban camo pants, but I crashed my bike and they ripped off, nowadays they're urban camo shorts but I can't use them here in cold Finland. Sonata Arctica Actually this was needless post -Juze aka Ghroath
  9. Yea, gotta love these pants. They're the most comfortable pants I've ever used. That's why I wear them almost everyday. And Prostheta, I'm as Suomalainen as I can be, perkele! -Juze aka Ghroath
  10. That 7-string rg-type looks fantastic! Well done! I just cross my fingers and hope that my 7-string build could someday be as sexy as that. -Juze aka Ghroath
  11. Hey, I've used it too. I once printed the template and after that I measured the frets they were good enough. You can find WFret from google. Actually here's straight link to the .zip-file. : ) WFret Download -Juze aka Ghroath

  13. Hahaha! That made me laugh so hard. I've not made any guitars yet so I'm not so sure which angle I'll do. -Juze aka Ghroath
  14. As you can see from my plans. I like offset dots, so C! -Juze aka Ghroath
  15. I do like the look of walnut. I'm not sure are you joking or serious, but it doesn't matter. And I'm not sure yet about which finish I'm going to use. -Juze aka Ghroath
  16. Yea, that same happened to me . But now they seem to work. Comments pls! -Juze aka Ghroath
  17. Wow! That IS nice! Hopefully my build will look like that even in one step... Hope to see more! And keep up the good work. -Juze aka Ghroath
  18. Thanks Wes! I try to update us much I can. Here are some pics of the parts: Tuners Bridge, 15 6mm MOP dots and nut blanks. Pots with knobs, ferrules, about 2,5 meters of fretwire and trussrod. -Juze aka Ghroath
  19. Oh yea. I received the parts today. Parts( 2-action Truss rod, MOP inlay dots, String-thru ferrules, a pile of fretwire , potentiometers and black halfdome knobs for them, hardtail bridge, two nut blanks (2 b/c if i screw up) and tuners.) Maybe tomorrow me and my two friends will make order to thomann. I'll get Dimarzio Blaze 7 Bridge pick-up, PU ring for it and some strings. I'm sorry that I don't have any progress pictures of my build. And it makes me crazy that I can work on this build not until next year. -Juze aka Ghroath Edit: Posted pic of my build plan. BTW:COULD ANY MODERATOR MOVE THIS TO IN PROGRESS&FINISHED? Link
  20. Well, I've long hair and I'm only 15. I know, I'm like a baby here with you grandpas around. I've had also really short hair in kindergarten and elementary school. But in seventh class my hair was about at shoulders. Now they're somewhere on half-back. I hate how I look with short hair. - Juze aka Ghroath
  21. Yesterday I got very slightly improvement to my build. I glued the blanks together to make one neck blank and two wing blanks. My planks were 200cm x 15cm x 2,54 cm so I had to glue two planks on top of other to make it thicker. Waiting till next friday. Now I should make some drawings here at home. -Juze aka Ghroath
  22. Because I already have the woods, and I almost got them free. My dad works in parquet factory so... I just have to wait till next Friday when I've woodworking in school. And I thought it would be easier to first prepare the neck and then attach the wings. Thanks for your advice! -Juze aka Ghroath
  23. Hmm, sounds nice. But I've decided to paint it. Not 100% sure about the color, but it's gonna be dark color. But hey! Should I make the neck blank almost ready before attaching the wings? Or should I glue "wing-blanks" to neck-blank first and then start making shape and neck. -Juze aka Ghroath
  24. So. Let's start. BODY, NECK AND WOOD: (American) Walnut for body, thru-neck. Jackson Dinky shape. Jackson headstock. 26" scale (660.4mm), 22 frets, 7-string. Nogal (Peru walnut) for fretboard and nogal veneer to headstock and cavity covers. ELECTRONICS: Only bridge pickup: Dimarzio Blaze Custom DP703, volume pot and tone pot. HARDWARE: ALL BLACK! Wilkinson tuners, string-thru-body ferrules, Tune-o-matic, dunno about the saddle yet :S. FINISH: I've decided to paint it. Some dark color. Hmm. Am I missing something? Tell me. -Juze aka Ghroath
  25. Yes, that I was thinking of. I just wanted to be sure, that I won't "****-up" my guitar. Thank for your answers! And specs about my guitar build, that I'm going to make: BODY AND NECK: Maple neck-thru, 26"scale 7-string, (Propably) Mahogany wings(Sapel). 22 fret rosewood fretboard 12" radius. Body shape is almost full copy of jackson's Dinky models, so is the headstock. Dunno yet about how thin will the neck be. ELECTRONICS: ONLY bridge pickup: DiMarzio Blaze (Bridge or custom model), 1 volume pot and 1 tone pot. HARDWARE: ALL black. Body through string ferrules, tune-o-matic bridge, Ez-lock Wilkinson tuners. Don't know about nut yet. FINISH: Also, don't know about that yet, you can tell me your suggestions about that. Hopefully next Friday I can glue the neckblank and bodyblank together. -Juze aka Ghroath
