  1. Or a stained glass shop. they have sheets of 12X12 adhesive backed copper. You can't solder aluminum.
  2. Will it work ....yes is it heavy....VERY Is it hard to grainfill.....very does it split bad ...yes Tone is debatable.
  3. Most of the finishes you see are epoxy/polyester based. Talc mixed in the paint will give a flattened finish but i'm not sure how durable. (I've only really used that method on model cars). Also there is a flattening agent for most 2 part clearcoat but I have never really experimented with it.
  4. Any other takers? Im guessing I might hafta just save it for a rainy day. Or another pc, whichever comes first.
  5. I guess everyone has their method. I use a die grinder with an aluminum bit. then a fine mill file to get rid of the roughness and then sandpaper for finish.
  6. Exactly as the title says. I got to thinking about fanned frets and how it seems to be the in thing these days and how Novax has the patent on it. I started thinking that all they did was make the mathmatics perfect instead of the traditional guitar scale length compromise. People have been adjusting the scale length of guitars for years via compensated nuts and through intonation. It really appears that this is a natural progression of guitar evolution. My point is that Novax is basically patenting the mathmatics of a guitar. Those mathmatics cant be changed and so how can they hold a patent on perfect intonation. Thats like applying a copyright to a chord. So if you built a guitar with an individual scale for each string it would be the same thing and subject to legal action. When really you are just building what a guitar was meant to do. Play in tune. Just my take on things.
  7. A new full install vista is 299 +tax canadian. Granted this is not in box so I would accept anything around the 150 mark, or equivalant trade. Im looking for a good crybaby or effects processor with a wah effect.
  8. Ebay won't let you sell microsoft software. I'm convinced it does not matter how you list it they think you're a scammer and pull the auction. I really hate ebay at times. Anyway, I have a full install edition of Windows vista home premium for sale. (kicker is it does not have the packaging. its just the cd and the unused product key) It's not OEM its just a freebie I got from work that I have no use for. Also I have an unactivated version of nero 7 Ultra edition (Enhanced) .....Nero 7 does not work with vista, found that out the hard way. It's hard blocked and doen't even install. Trades are welcome too
  9. Here is some really good info about the moisture content of wood. It accompanied my moisture meter Linky
  10. If you can swing it use a bigger ball endmill. i use a 5/8" on my radius blocks. It allows you to take larger steps or gives you smaller ridges whichever you prefer.
  11. There are so many permutations of tele's that this question is like asking what color is purple. The short answer is deep enough that the specific pickups you are using do not bottom out. http://www.airos-guitars.com/cad_drawings.htm I updated this one a long time ago but I don't remember if it has the tele bridge drawing as well. If you plan on using them in cam software check them first. If you are planning to make money of them then bugger off.
  12. The #1 reason why you shouldnt be answering this question. Especially without asking What paint? How many coats? How dry? And 2000-2400 is way too fine to start sanding, 2400 is almost a mirror finish....minus a little buffing/swirl remover.
  13. Good eyes i didn't even notice. Can I change my vote? Ah its just a friendly competiton but really is there really a need to do that kinda thing?
  14. Wes has given you the general consensus. That being said I fret then shape...just my preference.
  15. did you even visit the link? Yep I did, My first wasn't good either so don't feel bad. Experience is the name of the game the more you build the more you get.
  16. so how do you flatten the glass? I'd heard that the simplest way to flatten frets is with an oil stone...is that wrong? I think you read that wrong? im talking about using glass with sandpaper on it to flatten the bottom of the plane. Oilstone is not perfect and true .....close but not perfect. Especially if you get a cheap one.
  17. If its not perfect. Get out a piece of glass and put some semi fine stickit sandpaper on it 120-320. and go to town lapping the base of the plane on it. It 'll be fairly true when you're done. You'll see the high spots first and eventually it will true up. This is not a bad idea for any plane. Keep in mind the flatness of the base of the plane is only as good as the flatness of the glass. So if you have anything that has a truer finish like a surface plate, jointer table or somthing like that it may be a better bet. Just check it with an accurate straight edge first.
  18. Read the reviews on it....Im not impressed yet.
  19. Hi again, I have a bunch of block ends listed ends listed cheap on ebay. I also have 8", 14" and 16" steel fret leveling beams as well. http://search.ebay.ca/_W0QQsassZlegodude0 ***the link button wont work. The same link is in the first post of this thread.
  20. Hobby shops should have brass rod that is about the size of side fret markers. Or www.smallparts.com under wire and springs. Not sure the min order from small parts tho.
