  1. My "radical" solution 1: Remove guitar top 2: Replace with a lacewood (sometimes known as london plane) top 3: Bleach and stain as appropriate. Good luck
  2. what about some saucy P90's (or even a P90 at the neck and buck at the bridge) If I could I would use P90's for everything...even my classical
  3. For amps I would happily recommend an Ashdown Blue series. Serious good performance for your money
  4. Liking the design however I would suggest reducing the "rib-breaker" point. Unless you wear your bass low of course....
  5. I am so trying this when I start my next project
  6. Other than the fact Gilby Clark didn't join GnR until after Use Your Illusion 1&2 were recorded ← fair point the 'other non-slash guitarist' is playing one

  10. you could speak to your local machining firm and get them to make it out of solid brass and after a lot polishing, get it chrome plated but it will cost you $$$'s (compared to an off-the shelf part)
  11. can't tell by the size but would a f**der jag bridge cover the hole. when I was last in the US I saw a strat that had been converted to hardtail by using a "flamed star" chrome plate and the bridge sat in that. Can't remember the name of it though sorry
  12. I might get in trouble with the Mods but I believe this will stir up some nice healthy debates
  13. do you mean http://www.wdmusic.com/jazz_bass_chrome_pi..._25238_prd1.htm or more like http://www.wdmusic.com/split_tube_jazz_bas..._29694_prd1.htm
  14. I get my finishing products from http://www.fromthewood.co.uk/ Abigail is really helpful and they do mail-order. Send her an email and I'm sure she will sort you out a catalogue
  15. cheers, I'm hoping to have some spare time next weekend to do some 'decent' Covent Garden shopping instead of the type my girlfriend forces me to do
  16. Hi all, I would like to make a some custom inlays / logos for my next project using either silver / copper or even a alloy combining both. I remember do some at school using some oily sand mould and pouring melted metal into the mould and then breaking the mould once it had cooled. Is there any other mould materials that I could use which could withstand the temperature of molten metal. I don’t mind breaking these moulds afterwards and the inlays won’t be very large. Again, any thoughts (or slaps around the chops for stupid ideas) would be appreciated.
  17. It may even be worth "patient"ing your design. It could be the making of your fortune
  18. You might be able to hire a better quality unit locally for less ?
  19. I can't believe that you got that wood for 20p...makes you wonder how much wood is wasted by timber yards.
  20. although not mentioned on their website I've seen adverts for a twin-carved top electric kit (not quite PRS shape). drop them a line and ask them http://www.brandoniguitars.co.uk/alanhistory.html
  21. what about making drumsticks (and I don't mean chicken )
