    Being a bassist, and loving CT basses, I voted for the bass. My vote was going to go to that or the hollowbody, but I just couldn't get over the fact that the soundhole looked like a sperm :-\.

    Larry has, by far, the best customer service I've ever seen, online or otherwise. He's very helpful with everything, and he will do his utmost to help with whatever you need. I also get emails from him occasionally just to see what's up. Very cool guy. Very nice wood. A+ service . Here and Here is an acrylicized fingerboard that I just recently bought from him (the blue, acrylicized maple below it was not mine for the taking). I also bought some neck blank laminates a while back. Both orders were outstanding (and he even threw in some pieces of pear with the neck laminates for free). I should also be recieving a figured redwood board that he resawed for me soon.

    Larry Davis at GalleryHardwoods.com will fix you up. No one here seems to buy from him, but he is the main supplier for all of the luthiers over at Talkbass.com. I've bought from him many times and the wood is outstanding. He can also acrylicize the spalted maple if you would like, so that it isn't so fragile.

    I had Larry Davis of GalleryHardwoods.com resaw it for me, and he did an excellent job. He was able to get three 3/8" pieces and a 1/4" piece. Here are a few pictures he took before shipping them off to me. Here ... and here

    I'm not sure about their guitars, but Odyssey basses are absolutely amazing. I would do anything possible to save the thing. Take it to a reputable luthier if at all possible.

    I was going to suggest ETS aswell. They have very high quality stuff for very reasonable prices.

    Very cool. I've always loved the way Warwick did their thru-necks, and I think you've put a cool new spin on the idea. Other than the neck dive on the 5+ string models, I love the Thumb bass more than most. Are you going with the baseball bat neck aswell (my favorite Warwick feature)? Also, what tools did you use to do the back contour?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...Y_BID_Stores_IT ... And it's all mine. So does anyone know how well redwood would work for a full body. Would it be better to cut it into top sets? Any other ideas? I have a particular bass design that this would be perfect for.

    I really don't like it. Most bassists don't like the "pointy for the sake of pointy" thinking, and I'm one of 'em.

    The problem with that is that I'm having it done by guitarbuildingtemplates.com. I have contemplated sending him a piece of acrylic to do it on, though.

    I'm needing it so that I can have a guy cut it out on MDF with a laser cutter. I don't have the resources to make the nice straight lines that I could get with a CNC. All 18" of the extension will not be used. That was just a rough measurement with a few inches to spare. The neck will be used for a bass (standard scale of 34"). Oh, and you have a PM.

    Here is what I need: Basically it is just a jazz bass neck with a paddle headstock and 18" extension that is tapered with the rest of the neck.

    Being as I love the Ritter Jupiter, it's natural for me to like this design. You've done well making it your own. Also, being as 6 bangers are my preference, I'm even more amazed. Once I'm done building my fretless four, I'm definately planning on building a six.

    I was actually planning on the latter. Dye dark amber and then light. Because I'm cheap, I will probably just use alcohol and wipe it on with a sponge. The body does have some nice flame to it. Click Here to see the body with some naptha on it. The camera took a lot of the character from the wood, but you can get an idea.

    Has anyone ever used any of these stains? More specifically, has anyone ever used the Vintage Amber? And even more specifically, has anyone ever used it on maple? If so, I would love to see pictures. This is the stain I'm planning on using for my [horribly extended because I'm a poor 15 year old] project.

    The thinnest bass I've ever come across was a 1 1/4" Marchlewski bass made for Talkbass.com member Akiko.

    Definately not up to par with your other designs, but with a little work it could be. But then again, I still don't like pointy .

    Not only will they bind, but after a while the strings tend to cut sideways notches in the nut.
