Complete noob to refinishing guitars, here. I do tech work at the local music store but very little finishing. I've done bits of things as far as refinishings go here and there, but mainly only adventure experiments (rattle-can bombing a first act 3/4 acoustic once.....or twice.....)
But I have a black drive 'strat style' body I plan on staning cherry red. The body is stll completely black, my first question is....what affect would I get my attempting to stain over the black and it's clearcoat? (because I don't want to waste the stain experimenting...)
Second, does anybody have a link to a step by step process from stripping to final finished product of staining a body? I've done a ton of reading on PG up until now...and I've got a slight idea, but can anybody give me an indepth idea of what I'm up against?
Thanks a ton!
