  1. I had thought of that, but I want a new guitar all together...not a cheap beginner's guitar.
  2. Ok, so about a year ago I bought an S101 SG style guitar. (Double horned cutaway) After playing it for this long, I realise that it was a mistake. It's a very unclear guitar and it's price is written all over it, really. When I was choosing, it was either this guitar or a Jackson (Dinky, I think). They were about the same price, but the Jackson was a lot more clear. My heart was set on an SG or SG type at the time. Has anyone ever owned or played an S101 Double Horned Cutaway? I realise I made a mistake in choosing, but do you think a trade in for the Jackson would be worth it? If not can you give me some details on a guitar for less then $300 that plays well and has a clear tone--especially in distortion? My playing styles range all over the place so it's hard to say. But ALL thoughts and opinions are deeply appreciated!! Thanks!
  3. So Im playing my SG and notice the cable isnt reading. So I check the cable, working fine. So I take the backing plate off.....Im still not getting anything, while everything is connecting.....I jiggled the wires and yet nothing, can anyone help? Thanks
  4. Some of my electronics in my S101 SG need replaced, I took the backing plate off and noticed two things, the wood was plainted black and the way the eletronics are attatched. Question is, what adhesive is used for keeping the electros to the wood, it doesnt seem like glue, but Im not sure. This will help de-attatching and attatching the new electronics. Bare in mind Im very new at this. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
  5. Hey, I could play BBD on my first day of playing....Greenday doesnt understand the terms 'Mix It Up A Bit', it must be said.
  6. Not a bad score for the money, but whats very important is... You get it, fix'er up and post pictures with your SBS process
  7. It depends quite a bit on the type of sound you want....Ibanez's RG series are great for heavy music (I've let loose of a few RG's including a 7-stringer before). I think it is well worth it....IMHO, the Ibanez is a better choice over a Strat, but thats all acquired to taste. Good luck on your decision, and if you do decide to do any adjustments, let us know....or post pictures...
  8. I have 2 pedals, I have a Delay pedal and I have, the ulta cool, metal monster 'The Weapon' WOT!
  9. Many thanks! Thats a big help, Ill get on it Now.....gotta find the camera Ok one more stupid question, I saw an epiphone that look like it had a glittery black finish, does that come in any paint? Again, thanks for the help!
  10. I like Greenday quite a bit, but their new album is as annoying as heck. And its also annoying how people call them 'THE' punk. Rebellion isnt all their is to punk. Sheer stupidity isnt either. But hey, maybe they'll see that light eventually.....and start singing about their brain-disfunctions again =b Instead of ragging on the President.
  11. Thanks Any idea of paint to use? Spray paint? Certain kind?
  12. Ok, before I get blasted to check out PGs website, it will not work for me, mind you my computer is suck-prone. And google was as helpful at this as if I asked a cookie maker So, down to the question, I have an old crappy acoustic guitar that the finish is dirty and ugly. Its not a full sized acoustic, but its not a small toy one either (first act etc. ) But I wanna strip it and give it a glossy black (or if somehow possible) a sparkle black finish. Can anyone give me a rundown on the best ways of using these things? Thanks in advance!
  13. *puts finger up, breathes in, stops himself and walks away*
  14. Well, Im new to guitar fixing, but the nut on my acoustic chipped a large chunk. It doesnt really effect the playing, but I'd like to fix it to look good, would it be a simple glue on type of deal if I bought a new one? Also, a guitar I gave a friend has an off centered nut, it doesnt budge and Im not sure how it got that way, would THAT effect the playing at all? Should I see if I can simply take it off and center it? Thanks!
  15. I learned on an acoustic actually.....I had five minutes of playing time on the S101 SG, it sounded pretty nice though....especially with distortion, the spec seem decent, pickups are nice. Thanks for the link.
  16. Ok, so. Im looking to buy an electric guitar...my first choice would be an SG....though theres not many I can afford. But, I was at the local music shop (where I prefer to buy from, considering they cover any problems the guitar might have for free), since a month or so ago my guitar teacher was using a Gibson SG that the store had in stock. (one, because it was used, and two he left his Ibanez in his studio) So anyway, it sold , but they did just get in an SG style guitar, an S101 for a buck-fifty, which looks alot like an Epi SG Special (which Ive heard bad things about ). Anybody have any experience with this S101? Good deal? Bad guitar? Any advice would be appreciated!
