  1. No problem! I have always gotten a lot out of this place, thank you for taking your time and effort to make it a great place to be!
  2. Not sure if that means you like it or not, but that headstock design has been a "love it or hate it" style. I am actually thinking about redesigning it for future builds.
  3. The one you showed was painted black, and I suspect if you sanded that back you would see filler in there. Chris did it with figured woods where he had to have it perfect to pull off. I also love the wood choices and the blue burst. That thing is just tasty.
  4. Even though I have butted heads with him in the past, it would be a crime not to vote for that O'Marlin, the heel on that is so innovative.
  5. Here is the latest update, neck is pretty well done, just needs a carve to the back of it and some tuning peg holes drilled and a lot of sanding, cut the neck pocket today too and mocked up the fretboard.
  6. Ribbon sapele body, quilt maple, ziricote neck, quilt maple faceplate from the same maple as the body. Will also have an ebony fretboard. I will be winding my own pickups for this one and making my own oil capacitors.
  7. I thought Killemall's explorer was the best take on an old design and so well executed.
  8. Anyone know where I can get a good air or pnuematic press? I want to start using a press to glue my tops instead of using 8 million clamps. I can find them, just not with a good enough depth for a guitar body.
  9. I can't see the poll option, but my vote is for Shad Peters. That guitar is perfection. I don't really like listing what I like and dont like about other guitars, but they are all nice and all better than what I do.
  10. Actually I think it's Sapele. I have used a lot of mahogany and a lot of sapele, both of them ribbon grain patterns, and that looks like it has the wider sapele bands to me than it does mahogany. But I could be wrong. It happens all the time.
  11. I was going to make a post about how I would be afraid that the water base would cause the grain to rise. Then I popped my head out of my butt and remembered you seal it before you spray finish, thereby eliminating that problem.
  12. Or there is a broken wire in there somewhere
  13. I bought a CNC from a pretty shady character, but the price was good so I didn't mind. Anyway, I plan on using artcam build 151 and a mach 3 controller, anyone know of any good artcam tutorials out there? I have played around with it a little and learned a smidgeon of what I need to know, but as far as making things, I am not there.
  14. This is going to have a piezo trem, along with 3 rail pickups that will all be coil tapped, should be one of the most versatile guitars ever.
  15. I voted for shad peters, too excellent not to. All the guitars this month were really, REALLY good. It was hard to pick one.
  16. I think you have to fret level each and every build, if not you are going to have a ton of dead spots, even just the manufacturing process of making fretwire is going to cause deviations in the size of the frets. I use a fret rocker, and a fret dressing stick, I used a file before, but have found that using a fret dressing stick causes less gouging than a file. It does take more time however.
  17. Took forever, but neck pocket routed and top carved.
  18. scrape it with a razor blade then sand the remnants off.
