  1. Does anyone possibly have a template for a bb330 bass body? I have one from the late 70's and its broken off at the control cavity (completely missing). I think the damage is too extensive to fix so I'm planning on building a new body.
  2. I recently picked up an 84' designer series gibson flying V. My first V and yes I love it. Other than the selector wired backwards, the electronics seem to be in good shape but I decided to replace the bridge PU with a Dimarzio tone zone. Works like a charm and sounds amazing. The stock neck pickup howls feedback like crazy with my hi gain loud volumes and has too much low end. I'd like to save the stocker, I don't use the neck PU for anything other than a weaker vintage sound so the tone is ok just too bassy. I'm thinking of wax potting the bucker and maybe experimenting with a cap in series. I have the tools to do the wax potting so I will start with that but I haven't done anything with caps before. Any advice?
  3. I know alot of designs a have been done to death. I'm a fan of the double cutaway body shape but I'm a big guy and everytime I see a Gibson, Ibanez or a Schecter they seem a little small for me. I'm looking for something alittle more dramatic. anyone seen anything like this? Anyone remember when Reb Beach from winger had his Ibanez's built without the offset cutaways? Thats maybe the direction I'm headed. Any thoughts?
  4. That's the thing, they don't offer them any more. I order this in th eearly 90's and never finished it. I got a body to match that totally fit the times, ash jackson style, tremolo route and one humbucker the neck didn't fit the neck joint very well so it sat I guess I was afraid to mess it up. haha... I'm over that now.
  5. I've got an early 90's jackson style reverse neck that's never been mounted. I want to build a firebird style body, mahogany, H/H, string thru, two volumes one switch, satin finished natural (almost violin finish). Any one know where I could find some plans for this body design? This is my first from scratch project. Thanks.
  6. I recently refinishing and old cort headless bass from the 80's. It was hacked by two previous owners and now it's time for me to make it right again. I have it stipped down to the sanding sealer and down to the grain on the top. The top was refinished badly in the past with no sealer left. The neck is mahogany and the wings are ash I think, I'm almost considering taking it right down and goin natural. My budget is really tight and I'm not doing anything crazy with it just making it right again. These basses were always black or metalic grey, I want to do something alittle more appealing without tighting up the demographic even more by painting it a silly orange or something like that. When it comes to metallic finish I have a certain thing for a rootbeer brown but maybe that's just me. Any suggestions? If I go natural, what kind of stain should be used on the mahogany and ash? Thanks
  7. When I was thirteen I realized my obsession for guitars. Van Halen built his own one of a kinda machines and still sounded better than everyone else and couldn't be mistaken for anyone else when onstage. At this early age, my friend and I would got down to the local music academy and buy destroyed student guitars for $20 and take them home and fix em paint them, bastardize them. 20 yrs later I still hide in the garage but I work on better guitars now.
  8. I've got a stew mac rev. jackson style neck with a graphite f.b. I want to custom the shape and escape the pointy look a little. any suggestions. I'll post a ref. pic soon. Thanks
  9. I'm speechless, I checked out the website and I want one of those 7string baritones!!!
