  1. i just saw the picture of the cavity and since busted out a chisel and cleaned up the glue.
  2. 24x11x11 Looks bigger than that. Is it because the knobs are like the same size as BOSS stompbox ones? EDIT: Really nice job though, definately stands out from other amps. If you look at the input/output jacks, you can see that they are a bit larger than the knobs. Very nice job, especially for a first amp project! BTW, what kind of speakers are you running it through? (it makes a big difference...) Im running it through a boogie recto cabinet (212) with British Celestions: A G12H30 70th anniversary Series And a Vintage 30 I love that cabinet
  3. it was actually my first wood building project ever except for a gun rack i made in the 7th grade. And before this i never work on electronics So the complements really mean alot. Thanks
  4. Ok so i got the top on a while ago but wasnt able to post. My digital camera is at home here so i brought the guitar home and took some pics. Ive got more in depth pics on a film camera but i wont be able to paste those until the film roll is up. Got the cap on: All the inner routing and control cavities done: here Here is the Cherry back: here more pics to come.
  5. My amp is finally done. It took about a month to build the cabinet for it and about 3 MONTHS for the electronics. I built this amp from parts i bought off a friend that was going to build his own. But he had a nasty accident involving something we like to call a capaciter. So i bought the parts for 50$! The rest of the parts cost me about 100$ more. The rest of the parts (knobs, handle and and feet) The influence for the look of the amp was a Mesa Lonestar. The flame maple front was supposed to resemble this. The actual electronic circuit were base of a set of Mesa boogie Nomad 55. But i did some serious modification by making it only a 2 channel amp. But it acts like a 3 channel because i added a boost channel that was basically the same as the dirty channel with more gain and less mids. After i hooked the amp up, at first i was dissapointed. But this was quickly resolved when i found out i was running at the wrong ohmage. This bad boy has some balls. I had it at a moderate level and it sounded pretty good. But as soon as my wife left for her friends i cranked it to about 7. This amp with the Boost channel on at that volume was super sensitive. Just how i like it. I will be post sound clips sometime later on. Probably not for a week or two. Enjoy the pics meanwhile. The cabinet has a couple finishing issues but im probably gonna redo do it later
  6. Alright today i got some work done. Got the routing for the wiring on the body, i also got the control plate routed out. Monday i should be putting the maple top on. For my first body build this seems to moving right along pretty fast. Ive been taking pictures with film camera so i have to get the whole thing developed before i could post any pictures.
  7. what bits do you guys use to cut out the body to the template?
  8. I took it to an appraser. Violen: Nice, from 1790's. Most like made in germany. High quality. Could bring as high as 2500-4000 usd. The bow: Bling beotches !!!! He was happy with this. Said it could be worth as much a 5 time the worth of the violen. Made in 1720's with rare frog inlay. Here are some pic i finally got around to taking. Pic 1 pic 2 pic 3 pic 4 pic 5 pic 6 pic 7 pic 8 pic 9 Thats it. Im pretty damn happy with that.

  11. alright, so today i got up in the loft and brought down the cherry im using for the body. It is a massive peice. 8' X 17" X 2" No sapwood. Today i cut it to a managable size and tommorow i'll get it planed. Im just busy on another project. My amp cabinet. (yah) that got glued up today. The corners will be routed tommorow. That will be finish and posted with the next to weeks.

  13. I want to put a dark wood stripe down the center of my tele. I can get walnut for free but i think ebony would be nicer. What you all think?
  14. how much does the ebony run a board foot? I need one piece 18" x 2 1/4" x 3/8" Thats .105 of a board foot.
  15. http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs62&d=06011&f=DSC00115.JPG This is a basic representation of what my goal is.
  16. Ok so here is my first problem. The one piece of maple i have is warped. The problem is the it wont return flat unless pressure is applied. Not much, but it does need it to go flat. The top is going to need joined and surface plane as it is rough. Joining the top is posing the problem. How can i flatten the top to join it, If i dont it will have a gap in the seem... So I came up with this idea, Glue the to the back and the join and use a ebony (something dark) lamination in the center like this. > Problem solved. Here is my wood.
  17. Alright so this is my official Telecaster thread. I will beginning work with in the next 3 weeks. The first thing i did was make a practice template. I did two on my les paul as practice. The first was good but got a little rough when cut it out. Here is my practice LP template on card. Practice Les Paul Template (Good) So, after that i began to make the template for the tele. I went down to the local shop and they were more than happy to help. I also stopped at dic blic on the way. This was the result Telecaster Template (Good) Pickup Template Neck Template Heel Carve Stomach Carve and Heel Carve
  18. no, i think it is latin. My wife translated it like In the year of our lord 1721. Blaha blah. I will eventually get pics.
  19. I just put strings on it and it sounds very good. Warm, and lively. And really resonent.
  20. beautiful peice of maple you got there!!!! i would give my left nut for that.
  21. I know this not the right forum but what the heck. Ok, so the other day i was reading in the classifieds on to see this violen selling for $200. It read: Old itailian violen, old coffin case and old bow. Needs Strings. $200 It caught my eyes for some reason. So i called and went to the house selling it. I went out to a little shed beside a barn and sure enough the was an old (i mean really freaking old) case. Shape like a coffin. I popped it open and there was a little silk towel thingy over it. Very nice violen. You can tell it is very old. The varnish has turned a dark brown, chocalate like color. Very good condition. Some things i notice about the wood. Mastergrade spruce top! I mean 34 grain line per inch, no runout, on quarter to 2 degrees The back and sides are also very impressive. The intensity of flame a with out a doubt the tightest and deepest ive ever seen. The case looks to be made out of spruce as well. it has an interior that is almost like a wallpaper (not wallpaper, but it has the touch of it). Inside the case i found a ticket to an orchestra with some righting all over it and different other little pieces of paper with gibberish written (real bad hand writing). The bow is rosewood, with an ebony frog and a sterling silver tip. What really caught my eye was the frog, it had the usual MOP inlay of the side, but on the botton of the frog it had a inlay of MOP. Some thing i personnally havent seen. Now back to the violen, Inside it reads the whole bit about stradivarius. with the date 1721. It also has a little map of italy about the size of a penny. What troubles me is that i can not find where it is made. Im sure it isnt a real strad, but it is without a doubt a very old strad copy, with great woods and workmanship for that matter. I bought it on the spot. So, can anyone help me out with this find? Thanks for your help. Jeff PS: tommorow i will be picking up a set of strings for the sucker and see how she sounds.
