  1. What program did you use to draw those?
  2. This is a program I got off the Roberto-Venn website. It's very useful for making wiring schematics: http://guitarmodder.com/beta/
  3. Did you ever end up fixing this?
  4. Guitar: An American Life by Tim Brookes is absolutely amazing. It is about the author buying his first custom built guitar, and the history of guitar as an instrument. I was poking around in the library one day when I came across it, and didn't expect much at first, But after a few pages I was totally hooked. I can not suggest it highly enough for any guitar head, although it does focus on acoustic guitar for almost the entirety of the book. Here is a page with a more balanced perspective: http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-American-Life-Tim-Brookes/product-reviews/0802142583 cheers
  5. It's great! Stays in tune better than any trem bridge I have played. Doesn't dig into your hand to much when palm muting. Sounds really nice also.
  6. Thanks , it gave me a reason to record some goofing off XD. I especialy had fun with the whammy drop at the end
  7. It would just make the pickups be in the wrong order, switch wise. check for any exposed metal in the pickup wires as they may be grounding themselves. It could be a defective switch. You may have overheated the switch. Please post pictures of the setup.
  8. Lace sensors: Red in bridge, Silver in middle, and Blue in neck. Chrome Tele knobs Sanded smooth neck fender electronics
  9. I have made peace with its more 'worn' finish. It still plays great, and sounds great too. Had some electrical trouble with it but that got fixed. And demonx, your finishes are better than good.
  10. That thing looks like a monster! could you link some videos or audio files of you playing it? from what you were saying that pickup must sound great distorted.
  11. did you use this switch? http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Components:_Switches_and_knobs/Lever-action_Pickup_Switch.html cause everything I have heard about it say's its a piece o crap. Check for loose connections, especially at the solder points for positions 1, 3, and 5. tug firmly (not hard) on them also if they are not loose because you may have a broken wire inside the solder connection (This has happened to me before). Check and see if any wires are grounding or partially grounding themselves. Also, don't be nervous as this is unlikely but still possible, if you overheated the switch it may not work properly, but again this is unlikely as you said it works on 2 and 4. Please do post pictures.
  12. OK! its fixed. After looking at it until I went cross-eyed, I said @*$* it, swapped out the out jack because it was the only part I wasn't sure of, and BOOM no hum. BUT WAIT, I put the pickguard back on and it starts humming again. Then after a few more minutes of blindly staring at the thing I notice the switch is touching the shielding paint, grounding it. Once again, duck tape saves the day. I just put a strip in between the switch and the body and the thing is quiet. thanks for all the comments helping
  13. sure, will be up later tonight. btw, awesome profile pic
  14. gah, this is ridiculous. I must have redone every connection by now. how important is shielded wire?
  15. thank you for your continued information. This hum is pissing me off XD, I have repeatedly looked at the factory diagram, and resoldered many connections, yet it still hums as much as ever, I think that the main hot wire too the output should be shielded now that I have played around a bit, because when I touch the insulation, it hums louder. Also, will I inevitably be the ground for the guitar?
  16. no, my hot wires are un-shielded. I am going to open it up tomorrow and take another look.
  17. I performed an excorsism on the guitar but it seems to have left behind some hum still. I will keep checking the wiring. The cord is not the problem, as it works in my others.
  18. Everthing is wired correctly according to the diagram I am using, I took the wire running to the tremolo off and it actually hummed less, the output is wired correctly, the ground on the sleeve and the hot on the other lug (its a mono)
  19. I know single coils are prone to humming, but I just wired up a strat style guitar that hums a fair amount, but the hum goes away when I touch the metal volume knob, I unwired the tremolo ground I had put in, and that actually helped a bit. any suggestions?
  20. that second link gave me chills. I may have to cobble together a switchboard guitar XD
  21. Well, all the work I put into the finish just went down the drain....... my guitar just fell off the painting wire, chipped in about 3 spots, during finishing. #!(^. I guess its name reflects it's look now, and at least it will sound good. I will come back to the finish one day when I am more experienced. I am going to finish this guitar though. I hope nothing else goes wrong.
  22. I figure I can use the bridge on another guitar later. I am trying to do a finish as we speak, but the key word being try .
