  1. Hopefully it will be wrapped up soon, finishing has been a pain in the ass. about to put the pearl on tomorrow. will put more pictures up when it is done.
  2. Bridge came in today. currently on coat 2 of grey primer, next to move on to 1 or 2 coats of black primer, then flat black enamel, then some other stuff.
  3. The painting process has begun The wiring is done (its not all that neat) a couple more parts coming in today (bridge, knobs, strings). I was able to spend a bit more on this project because I recently came into some money so hopefully it keeps going as well as it has. Cheers,
  4. Quick update: demonx, after feeling how smooth the body was after being sanded to 600 I just had to do the neck... and oh my god... I have never felt a neck that glided so well. going to get wood filler tomorrow. New bridge is in the mail, along with new knob covers. All electronics are ready to be put in.
  5. Some of the parts came in today. I have to return the tuners because they don't fit the headstock. going to start painting as soon as pearl gets here. Wish me luck XD.
  6. sorry, I didn't see that part about sanding the primer until after i posted...
  7. I was talking about coats of primer and clear (and not the pearl-clear layer).
  8. I do believe i will stick with what I have , project should be wrapping up sometime next week(end).
  9. I am still going with the pearl , I picked up a rather nifty hobby sprayer that seems to have a decent pattern with the paints I have run through it so far. consistent pattern. I hope it turns out well. would you recommend sanding in between coats of everything? my school art teacher made the suggestion. Also, an idea I had but don't trust to put into practice, What if you took a shape (say a fleur-de-lis) made out of cardboard or plastic (basically the opposite of a stencil) and put it on the body before you sprayed the pearl or the metallic? any idea how that would turn out? and thank you for the tutorial, it will make things much easier with a reference. I envision this coming together some time next week(end)? all depending on how smoothly things go. good luck on your V6 demonx.
  10. project is on hold for a few days, still fixing things up after a major flood (about a month or so ago) so for a day or two its getting put on the back burner
  11. Wiring stuff is going to get here Sunday. About to start the painting process/everything leading up to it. I am putting my faith in the internet and a friend because this is uncharted waters for me
  12. demonx, could you take me step by step through this painting process? I know I have to fill the wood in areas where I sanded through the resin. But what type of paint would you recommend? Also, its possible to paint on top of clear coat right? I had an Idea that is more simple but still pretty cool.
  13. thank you all for responding The main reason for this question was I have a .047mfd capacitor that I bought while preping for some seymorduncans. I changed my mind last minute and decided to buy some Lace sensors. The SDs recommended a .047mfd cap, but the Laces suggested a .022mfd Cap. I really didn't feel like buying another part if I didn't have to. I think I'll stick with em.
  14. I am currently looking at some ghost pearl mix that would go into clear coat. What would be the most cost effective way to apply this? I try to stay away from brushing because I don't trust my self to do a good job of it.
  15. I am currently in the process of redoing the wiring for one of my guitars, one of the things I am replacing is the capacitor. What effect does the Mfd value and style of capacitor have on sound and overall functionality?
  16. The body is coated in resin, but I sanded through some areas, do I only have to worry about the areas that are bare wood? Or would you recommend me doing something about the resin coated areas as well? You certainly need to do the areas you have sanded through, then maybe a coat of resin or similar over the whole body followed by sanding flat to give you a decent level finish ready for painting. Thank you for responding so fast, is there any brand sealer you would recommend?
  17. Sexy. Once this is done, it has my vote for GOTM

  19. Thank you for all the solutions , as I am writing this post I am taking apart the pot. Well don't I feel like a grade A helmet-head XD. I take the knob cover off and the thing freed right up. This would have been resolved much quicker if I knew where my allen keys were (stupid flood XD) thank you for all your helpful suggestions.
  20. A guitar of mine has a tone knob that is stiff to turn in some spots, I have yet to open up my guitar to check it. Any suggestions to fix this?
  21. As of right now I am completely obsessed with this project, so I don't see it falling to the way side XD, The only problem really is money. A 62' reissue fender strat tremolo is gonna run me $100, and the SeymourDuncan set I am looking at is going to run me another $205. Then there is the rest of the electronics, and its hard to pay for on a students budget :/. I do what I can though whenever there is something that can be done. I really enjoy working on this project.
