    thanks marty..i'm with you..i love the simplicity of it and yes, since mine is semi-hollow i'm guessing yours does weigh more. i had noticed your av before..what kind of tone do you get out of it? unclej, it sounded pretty good as I recall, I sold it to a friend about a year ago. I think it had Duncan '59s in it and was a bit heavier sounding than a traditional Tele. My newest is a Swamp ash straight up Tele with vintage 54 pups.

    If you are careful with it, you can use CA and an accelerator that will make it dry in just a few seconds. Just make sure you line it up correctly.

    Boy, I don't think I would want to color it. At one time, Drak mentioned that he had some tips on finishing Cocobola. Drak, you listening? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Here is the piece I have:

    Honing Guide I just ordered one of these. A neighbor has one and it works great to get the angles right.

    I'm using a standard jack ferrule on my new Tele project. Does anybody modify the body to get the rim of the ferrule to sit flat? If so, what do you do? Thanks, Marty

    I think number 2 would be much better, especially if you do it with a forstner bit. Very clean and low risk.

    I just did a Tele and routed everything before I cut the body. If you keep your center line in mind, I think it is easier just because you have a bigger surface for your router to sit on. Marty

    On one of my very first builds, I made a horrible mistake - routed through the body I had been talking to Drak through the process and when I told him about this, he talked me into "fixing" my problem and finishing the guitar. For a rank beginner, it was wonderful advice. I ended up with a functional, nice playing guitar and learned some stuff I wouldn't probably have learned if all had gone perfectly. (It's the Zebrawood in my sig) I've since found that the craft of building involves a lot of fixing the screw-ups. I will also advise new builders to have reasonable expectations. Your first build will probably not be a Drak quality piece, but appreciate it for what it is and figure out what you can do better next time. Marty

    I need some more advice. Here is my current thought for the CB. A big ol' 335, Country Gentleman type shape to maximize the use of the CB. I've got some real nice 8/4 Walnut that I'm thinking of chambering (heavily) to get it down to a point that you can lift it. Any advice is appreciated. Drak, I've done some searches on finishing CB and haven't found anything. Any hints? Thanks, Marty

Here’s the plan: 2 piece swamp ash body – natural, maybe just a light amber tint Warmouth Vintage modern neck – maple & rosewood Duncan Vintage 54 pups Vintage wiring kit Fender 3 brass saddle bridge Black ’62 reissue pickguard Old (late ‘60s) Kluson tuners Any thoughts – advice?     Got it yesterday, it is just outstanding. The color is just like the bottom picture, it is perfectly jointed and the headstock piece is beautiful too. The seller also threw in a Wenge fretboard blank. I'm very happy. All advice on what to do with it is welcome. Marty

    Drak, I really haven't thought too much about what to do with it - I didn't really figure on winning the thing. Any and all advice is welcome. I'm also in the process of setting up my shop in the new house so I haven't done anything in a while. javacody, yes it can be pretty toxic - I've got some learning to do.. Thanks, Marty
