  1. sanded to 240 with a bit of oil on it to bring it out a bit. i think it will be nice once its sanded and polished up. just waiting for my 100 dots to come then i can get all the petals in
  2. did a bit of engraving. its not filled, but it will be a very light fill so wont look too far off that
  3. i was originally going to use wood for the branches but then i thought it would be a massive pain what with staining the body and having to scrape colour coats back and such.
  4. yeah if it was just on the neck id be dremelling away hehe. i think once the petals and flowers go in it will help it as well. and that is only sanded with 80 so it should stand out more when its all polished up EDIT: i think i might engrave the branches a bit and fill it with something lighter so theres highlights on it - so you can actually see theres something there from more than a foot away hehe
  5. hmmm. the horn doesnt show up as much as i was hoping. i glued it in with epoxy mixed with brass dust to try to help it show up a bit more. this is only sanded to 80 so once it gets sanded and polished it will show up more. also, the petals havent been glued in yet as i dont have enough dots and theres no point doing some and then doing more later
  6. yeah yeah, mines got a curve on it therefore i win
  7. purfling glued on. the 12th fret inlay is gluing in place and tomorrow i'll cut the branches out on the board. then its binding on, radiusing and inlaying the petals
  8. outrageous!!! body core is cut out and has its veneers on and im just about to glue the purfling on the fretboard not terribly exciting i know but o well
  9. theres a thread for the inlay part of this in the inlay section here, but i thought id do a build thread too. so far the wood has only just come today (apart from the top which will be another week or so), so for pics i'll just post the back for now close up showing the engraving. the centre of the flowers is brass dust this will be by far the most ambitious inlay iv done, and indeed will only be my fourth ever (iv done another but its not in a guitar yet) - eep
  10. all stuck together and sanded flat. lost a bit of the look with the hair but otherwise i like it. just got to find something to inlay it into now
  11. hehe you stole mine first! and dont give me all that 'i never saw it' business, we all know you're a witch really
  12. yeah its going to be 'fun' when it comes around to doing it! up to now the most complex inlay iv done is that girl up there. and before that a fairy and an eye. and thats it really
  13. its from a picture of a model called london andrews and i wouldnt call her fat at all. chubby maybe. but chubby is fantastic. and if you dont know why, you're missing out hehe
  14. i dont know really. iv been doing it on and off for the last few months. if id been doing it all in one go i dont think it would have taken that long. a few days maybe
  15. heres another one iv been doing whilst im waiting for the top wood for the cherry blossom one. i dont have anything to put it on yet, i just had the idea and wanted to do it so i did. nothings stuck together yet and its not pushed together right so there wont be so many gaps when its in place (in whatever its going to be in place in). also, some of the finer bits snapped off when i was cutting so there are points missing. but o well oh, and shes about 60mm from hair to toe
  16. i had this idea about two years ago but never really thought it would work. then avenger went and did something very similar (the swine!!) so at least i knew it would work. this is what its going to look like i havent got the wood for the top yet, but this is the back. its one piece rippled sycamore this is the 12th fret inlay. its the kanji for sakura, which is what the guitar model is called and which is also japanese for cherry blossom. see what i did there? hehe and here are all the pieces for the top and headstock. there are over 160 little pieces of pink mop, all cut by hand, and the branches are horn
  17. looks to me like theres tape in the neck pocket and the end of the neck looks dry right on the edge of the pic
  18. put them on a host site like photobucket or imageshack and they give you a link to put on places like this so the image shows up
  19. Holly Esq. #10009 Double bound Alder body Diamond Blue finish Maple neck w/rosewood fretboard Ivory 12th fret inlay Bare Knuckle Brown Sugar pickup
  20. a little tease. proper pics over the weekend. theres just one fret needs a tiny bit of work
