  1. Me having bit of a noodle on this, im playing with a piick so bare with me and i will get a proper recording
  2. Will post a sound clip, ill grt my son to play it as i am not a classical guitarist. Ive got the peizo working and it sounds full, it is prone to body noise but that is to be expected. the neck, fingerboard, bridge and horseshoe (tail stock? Butt head?? Nah i prefer tailstock) are made from a heat treated hard wood called saplen - they dont specify the species of hardwood but judging by the smell it is maple / sycamore. It has a very dark even appearance.
  3. Sorry, not many build pics. I have built this for my son to take to uni (in the hope i can retrieve my classical guitar from him!) waiting for a jack socket to test the body mounted peizo. neck is a little wider than a standard classical at my sons request. all cedar body and thermally treated maple for the neck (this is a building/ cladding product) just needs a little bit of finessing and it is complete it is LIGHT 1.7kg
  4. Also i cut the nut rubbishly again, lucky i have a lot of blanks
  5. Think i will go with a black plastic pick guard eventually. it plays and sounds lovely, will get a soundclip up soon
  6. Didnt like the burst so that was sanded back, i havent settled on a pickup yet but its strung up and plays nice. i am having to side line this project to finish a build for my son before he goes to university
  7. Rets are done, this is the one part of this build that went absolutely perfectly! had a blow out near the neck pocket when routing - have patched it up but it isnt invisible.
  8. Completely messed up the fretboard so i am using that material for the tailpiece and adjustable bridge. Ordered lovely pre cut rosewood board from reid timber in the uk ( very reliable )scale is 24.8
  9. Felt the need to do some finish tests on some scrap wood.
  10. I fiddled with my holes (ooer) they are nearly as i want but icouldnt resist seeing how the maple seperates the top from the soundholes so applied a little brown dye. Gonna pop the body aside for the weekend and start on the neck. When i do the proper finish it will be a mellow yellow / brown burst. The dye also highlighted a few imperfections that can easily be removed.
  11. I just thought there wouldnt be much block left after routing for the neck so i got a bit kerf krazy! It cant hurt….i hope!
  12. Top and back glued on. Soundholes soon….
  13. First ever end wedge, it went ok, the wrong way up but ok!
  14. Its gonna be like this-ish but no pickguard
  15. Had to scrap the first sides that i bent, rrrriiipp! 2nd try worked out.
  16. The soundholes will be at the waist, like this.
  17. I will be starting the lower bit this weekend, hopefully that will be easier!
  18. Will be doing a chamfer / arm rest which is also ovangkol
