  1. Yeah, one long top piece all the way to the end of the cutaway - its nearly there, it put up a struggle though! Just setting the cutaway at the mo. I thinkk it will look cool.
  2. Haha, not meant to be a teaser - combination of i.t issues and busy-ness! this will have ovangkol back and sides, i have some really flamed maple for the top and neck. Will have a single humbucker. should have the sides done by the weekend but ovangkol is seriously tough wood.
  3. I made the bridge better and reshaped the neck (slimmed) it records well, wish i was a better player! i tried to use minimal effects so the guitar could be heard in context - solo guitars are a little loud - oops
  4. Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement. i have been very lucky on this build, if you zoom in on the headstock you can see that the d and g string tuners are REALLY close and the low e just misses the edge of the headstock - this was definitely luck and NOT accurate measuring on my behalf! i do like the small headstock - it looks right to me there are plenty of little errors that most people wouldnt see but a guitar builder would. it plays very nicely and i will get some recording done shortly. fretboard is some kind of rosewood that i found that was for an abandoned project. the tuners are hipshot open locking tuners which look amazing and are the best i have used. i may do a different bridge as i found some thumb screws to make an adjustable bridge but i might not,
  5. So very nearly done. i have strung it up with some electric strings and will let it be a guitar for a few days before levelling the frets and doing the nut properly etc. even though it needs some gentle lovin to make it all it could be i am very, very happy with it. it could be love!
  6. Merry christmas everyone. managed to get a few bits done before the weather turned crappy, so close now! really pleased with the progress on my very first acoustic, the body has a loud, woody tap tone
  7. Still waiting on fret wire and a graphite rod being delivered before i can progress.
  8. I like that a lot. I need to do another bass
  9. Its a three aside headstock but i will be string it so the high and low e will got to the furthest tuners, the reverse of whAt is normal to add more of an art deco feel.
  10. Glued up, sounds loud. I am well pleased! i am going to try and get as much of the neck done before it gets really cold
  11. Going with an art deco style soundhole, i will try and echo this in the headstock
  12. On the bright side, i do some of the same sycamore for a new neck and a pretty piece of ovangkol i can use for the fretboard. it also gives me an opportunity to revise my plans.
  13. I hate wenge. It bloody flaked off behing the zero fret ( yeah , i dont know why i did a zero fret either) tried to cut into zero fret and redress for a nut but made a total fffing mess. it is now firewood.
  14. Still undecided as to what kind of soundhole i am going to do, i need to decide before i work out a bracing pattern for the top.
