  1. To me, that body shape is screaming out for a somewhat Musicman-style headstock. I think it might be too contoured to pull off such a "pointy" headstock. Even a Strat headstock would go nicely with that, I think - maybe with just a bit of tweaking to follow the swept look of the body. Either way, killer shape.
  2. It's not my type, but Ed Roman's designs often look very "right" - he uses repeated lines and motifs to great effect. It's a dumb headstock, but it looks quite good since it's repeating the line from the upper bout (like a Parker - man, that headstock would look stupid on any other body).
  3. I remember the one guitarist from Korn having an RG with white hardware... and I think one of the featured guitars here had hardware that had been painted white.
  4. "G0013 Weathersquare" looks incredible! There's some really cool stuff there.
  5. Wow! That's beautiful. I love how the natural finish looks against the blue stain.
  6. Nice score! I must admit, I'm now in the same boat as you. I'm gonna mod the heck out of my old epi LP special. I'm probably gonna sand down the neck and refinish the body. If I feel like it and have the cash, maybe I'll throw some decent pickups in there, too!
  7. $350 USD. Considering it comes with the hardshell case, I'm pretty happy.
  8. I saw this deal on eBay, and I couldn't pass it up. It's such a fun, stupid metal guitar, and therefore I love it! It's a Jackson Ke3 reverse, in transparent blue over flame maple [cough]veneer[/cough], with an EMG 81 installed. We'll see what I think about the EMG (I haven't had much experience with them), but if I don't like it, I'll probably swap the pickups out for DiMarzios. I also plan on installing chrome pickup rings instead of the black ones that are there now. Anyways, I haven't received it yet, but here's the pictures that were posted with the auction: Image 1 (92 kb) Image 2 (232 kb) Woo!
  9. Perhaps you could use it for binding? That could look cool.
  10. I've always wondered why I haven't seen ebony inlays in a maple fretboard. I think that would look really natural and elegant.
  11. Thanks - though, it is the scale length I prefer. I meant strat neck simply as an example - I'm also more comfortable on Ibanez necks, Jackson necks, and the like. I actually prefer a larger radius than strats have - I like a pretty flat neck. I also intend to occassionally tune down to some degree, likely just D standard, but I've dabbled with Drop-C and C-standard as well. Depending on how I feel after I play around for a bit, 25" might suffice but 25.5 would certainly be preferable.
  12. Nah, even though I play 24.75 now, it's not by preference. I prefer the feel of a strat neck to it by leaps and bounds. Thanks for that Ed Roman link, I'll take a look.
  13. The other thing is that if I have to go to the work of narrowing a 7-string neck, I really might as well just make the entire thing from scratch. Maybe I'll go play some 25" scale necks (I play a 24.75" right now, after all) and see if I like it enough to want it in a guitar. In the meantime though, if anyone finds something, please post away! And thanks for all the help so far.
  14. Does anyone know where a premade neck-through neck blank can be purchased? I've already seen Carvin's, but there's a couple things I don't really like about that - mostly the scale length (I'd rather get 25.5 as opposed to 25) and the fret markers that come with it stock. Does anyone know of any other suppliers? Thanks.
