  1. thats 250 mm with the angle already done on the headstock right? if so, im asking how much of the neck blank shud i cut for the angle as shown in the guide http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/anck.htm
  2. Using this as my guide on creating the neck, p.s my neck blank is 5 piece maple and mahogany, 30" x 4"x 3/4" thick, http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/anck.htm How long should I cut the piece on the right side of the diagrams there, to equal the lenght of the 7 string headstock? I know I might be going into this too soon/quick, but theres only a little amount of time in school left lol, just about 5 weeks. I am thinking maybe 3" worth of the 30" that i have, cut it on 13degrees, then glue the 2 together to get the angled headstock, then just shave off the excess when I shape the neck. Comments?
  3. I will get the 7 string T-O-M bridge this weekend along with 14 ferrules for the back and front of the guitar. Yes sir, 5 mm for the distance between the string to the fret board edge, so i can do easier vibratos and yes I'll go ahead with the slightly larger string-edge at the neck pocket
  4. hey SwedishLuthier, I printed out that mockingbird, i think the one u have sent me is just for 6 strings, now when i trace this onto my wood blank, do i just extend the neck pocket? Like so, I print out the body of the mockingbird. 4 peices of paper. i glue the top left and bottom left together. i glue the top right and bottom right pieces together. i trace the left peice of the mockingbird on my wood blank. i leave a 8 mm space inbetween the right peice of the mockingbird. Your neck pocket is 59.5 mm, and yes you told me to keep a space in there, so this is just im saying to see if you agree with this. The neck pocket of a 7 string should be 66.8mm, as according to warmoth ( http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/necks/necks....=paddle_7string ) Do you agree with this method or disagree? Thanks
  5. I'm planning on buying it at Long and Mcquade, but I'm not really sure how long it will be, can you just eye it up? lol, i can fix it once I get the actual bridge LAST EDIT: and angle the fretboard at the higher frets, with the angled 7 string single coil pickup and 1 7 string humbucker at the bridge. the wood will be: fretboard= maple, neck= maple, mahogany combo, body: honduran mahogany grover rotomatics hmm I still have alot of mahogany, i'll just cut up and glue a piece of mahogany 2" x 20" onto my blank
  6. .dwg is fine, im using turbocad, and metric measurements please yes bolt on neck, and here is a link for the 7 string thru bridge (uses ferrules) http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Sch...itar?sku=513104 width at nut: 49 mm (im just lookin at these 7 string specs: http://www.kyowashokai.co.jp/caparison-eng...ellinger7.html) , width at neck pocket (22nd fret): 66 mm yes 25.5" scale I've had a final thought about the headstock, i want tit to be like so: http://www.guitarsatbmusic.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1575 , if u can trace that caparison headstock that it, then 4 and 3 on the headstock like so. it'll look nicer This is the type of "angled" fretboard that I mean at the higher frets, http://www.guitarsatbmusic.com.au/caparison/horus.htm and for tuners lets go grovers and remember its a 7 string, 27 frets Thank you very much I've completed the body blank, its 14" x 21", i just need the mockingbird outline to see if it fits or i'd need to add some extra mahogany onto it
  7. 2 pots, 1 switch selector, 27 frets (fretboard angled at the 26th and 27th frets), 2 humbuckers bridge is gonna be a 7 string-thru (cus im too poor to pay for a floyd rose) lol. the headstock is going to be an ibanez headstock unless you can draw or get a picture of a b.c rich neck like so http://www.woodbrass.com/images/woodbrass/...RONZE+COREE.JPG, heres a pic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ibanez_...ock_pointed.svg id like all 7 machine heads on 1 side plz can you provide me with an outline of the body as soon as possible please because i have to cut out the body soon, only 6 weeks left of school in first semester heh, and its only 40 mins a day Thanks
  8. here is a picture, its going to be a 7 string, not sure what the measurement is but maybe 67 mm, because its 65 mm at the 22nd fret, or if u know please tell me lol sorry i dont know how to make the picture bigger without making the edges of the outline of the mockingbird blurry :S
  9. I'm really hoping to make a mockingbird 7 string, if anyone has one please share
  10. I know of black dots, but what kinds of designs are there out there using what kinds of material?
  11. i symphathize for your baldness as im losing it too BUT GREAT GUITAR!
  12. just wanting to make sure before i cut my angled headstock so its good. I'm thinking of 8 inches, oh and this is for a 6 string guitar with all the tuning machines on 1 side
  13. ideally i would do something like that but the only supplier i can find online is www.rockler.com and they only offer as small as 1/2" are there any other legit websites out there for this kind of supply? lol just buy the 1/2" piece then rip it
  14. I got that picture printed now, thanks but before i trace this onto my wood, are there any other templates like this that you have, becuase i want to see my options with the actual size templates that i can get ahold of thanks
  15. agreed.. my neck accents are 1/16" http://www.desopolis.com/guitar/neckhelp2.jpg paduak maple mahagony, I have the exact inverse as well http://www.desopolis.com/guitar/newneck2.jpg but both of those are wide enough for the headstock as well. themetalhankey: are you just going to add wings for the headstock? no my neck black is 4 inches wide i am going to have a 13degree angle at the headstock and yeah i shudda done that 6mm for the mahogany accents lol, but its already done, finished it today at school during my spare period, it looks pretty nice though, with 1cm accents I'm happy
  16. Does the end of the fretboard, the part at the higher end of the frets, does it not stick on to the body of the guitar? In other words, the fretboard is glued on to the neck, but does the part of the 25+ frets, does it kind of *float* over the body? For example my washburn guitar has 24 frets and the 24th fret is not on the neck and not on the body, its just "floating" over the body. Question is.. is this a good thing/bad thing and what kinds of damage will this do over time? I'm making a 36 fret fretboard and I just want to know what should I do. Oh and the neck is a bolt on
  17. k for string ferrules, is there a certain type of tune-o-matic bridge for a string thru or do u just use a "regular" tune-o-matic bridge and tilt it? I dont know why to tilt it, but most of the guitars with string thru bridges, the tune-o-matic bridge is tilted or angled. for the string ferrules do u need 6 on the front of the body and 6 on the back of the body ? thanks
  18. That site has the original blueprint for the JEM777. http://www.jemsite.com/jem/origin/index.htm All the way down at the bottom of the page. im having a slight difficulty reading that lol, but does the D-15 mean depth for d?
  19. im looking for green, btw im going as jeepers creepers hehe. im going to look for a trenchcoat today that i can cut up. im gonna get a skullet thats what im trying to do with the bald cap. bald cap on my head with a wig with the hairline starting at the top of the head
  20. lol well i hope i dont get flamed for this, and according to your sig there is no such thing as a stupid question so here goes nothing.. im trying to dye/paint my latex bald cap for halloween. i want to know what kind of paint i should get at the store to dye/paint it. The relative thing that is related to guitar is maybe the paint/dyes used in painting/staining a guitar maybe used for latex as well, so i just gave it a shot.
  21. thanks for that info, helped me a bunch Is there a website like that that has the body specifications? Like the thickness of the body, depths of back cavities, etc?
  22. hmm i need some peoples help for the width at the nut, im guessing maybe 45mm-ish since the width at the neck join is 55mm
