  1. Yes it's very possible to do something like that. It appears to be a larger metal flake with a burst. Judging by the lack of flake in the black I'm guessin' they shot the blue, masked the edge area, shot the flake, then unmasked and did the black. Just my guess though.
  2. Well, this is certainly not gonna be the favorite answer by most, but I say do whatever you want to it. Now, that will might kill it's value to collectors, but that's your first guitar, if you love it you should make it personal. If that means paint it, buff it, change the electronics or whatever, or even just leave it as is, do what makes it awesome in your eyes.
  3. Oh man, I LOVE your gluing method there with the cement block HAHAHAHA
  4. shh, is that supposed to make the guitar quiet?
  5. That's a good point Marcovis. I'd suggest (after you measure it out of course) pushing the neck in the body farther and then making the cutaway farther in so you don't lose fret access.
  6. Yep, looks just like our floor, except less worn down lol
  7. Well, for me it was a tie between the ones that were in first and second at the time (as it turned out, well, actully the bottom two were tied, but not after I voted). I ended up voting for the one that's in second at the moment, only cause it sounded like it had a little more lows in the distorted one. But I really like the other one too.
  8. As far as the EMG thing, I think it's not only people who can't hear tone, but also people who just don't like metal, therefore wouldn't care to hear a difference and wouldn't.
  9. I would say just post up a picture or two of it. Someone should be able to say easily then.
  10. Oh man, I'm really sorry to hear that. I wish I had the time, I'd scour ebay constantly for ya. I really hope you're able to recover them.
  11. There's nothing wrong with a floyd and a scalloped board. I have a friend that has that exact thing and it works fine, he plays it live with his band it's great. Really, we can't decide for you. The question is do you want to have a whammy bar? Another suggestion would be Kahler. I know Wes loves those.
  12. Well, I like it. I happen to like the one straight pickup.
  13. You have a few choices. You could put an inlay over it, you could just decide it's not worth it and leave it, or you could use a plug cutter and dowel it. You'd want to use a plug cutter so that you don't have endgrain showin' up. And if you're really good you'd be able to match the grain up pretty close and it might be very difficult to see.
  14. Another great review, and finally something I already have so I don't have to go out and get another, or do I...... I have Stewmac one, unfortunately I go a bad one, but didn't think to send it back and it's WAAAYYYY too late now. It's got some ridges runnin' down it, I'll get rid of'em when I actually use it, but yeah. Rick, that's a good idea, and after making the initial radius I bet it wouldn't be too hard to make multiple and maybe sell them to friends online..... :D
  15. That just makes me sad Doug, just makes me sad......sigh........
  16. Cool, thanks for the info So let's see, a straight edge from lee valley, a fret leveler......
  17. Cool. Thanks for another great review, and another thing I should get.....sigh So what length would you reccomend? Stewmac has 8", 16", and 24" beams, I would assume either 16" or 24".
  18. I did the matchstick/woodglue, I used toothpicks though. It works great. Just make sure and let it dry for a couple hours before you put the screw back in, then a day or so to make sure it's all set up and cured.
  19. Thanks for the review man. I've been needing to get a straight edge and didn't wanna go stewmac cause I've heard enough problems with their quality control. I have a couple things from Veritas, so I think that might be my next order
  20. I like the idea, I'm assuming burned and blood, but I think you went about it a bit wrong. With an idea like that you really gotta go all out, needed to be burned more, and I think the blood needs to be a bit finer splatter or some smeared finger prints or something, just my thoughts though I do like it overall
  21. Wow, that carve really makes the body, that's awesome, now you should round off that neck pocket some and make it a bit more comfy just a suggestion though
  22. Well, goin' straight to the amp, you probably won't get a led zep sound. Jimmy Page used marshalls and I've heard orange amps too. While Vox's are cool and I like the sound, they don't sound like marshalls.
