    Okay people, basically I want to start working out roughlly how much my planned project will cost. what i would like to know is how much would the mahogany cost if i were going to build an explorer style body. im not looking for anything flash or nicelly figured. just a nice enough piece of regular mahogany i realise that this depends alot on where i get it etc but i just wanted to know what cost im looking at many thanks JG

    Could you not do it by doing multiple burst finishes? it does look very very sweet espescially the second one. I'm digging the inlays on that guitar

    personally i prefer the second tribal design. its a bit more complicated to itd be more work but i think that itd look better because its more intricate. btw i like the body design. i really like explorer style bodies and thats an original take on it

    the mahogany on the phil collins guitar looks pretty sweet. im currentlly planning (tho through lack of cash and tools i wont start it for a while) to build an explorer style guitar with a solid mahogany body, no veneer, id like to give it a nice dark red sort of finish tho if i get a piece thats dark enough to begin with i might just leave it natural

    man i would likethat. id really like a decent dual channel tube amp but i dont have the cash and building one would be expensive, difficult and scary (mains voltage is nasty) if only i had a few hundred spare quid around

    how can you use your dick to play guitar...what kinda lube would you use? if its what our man Carlos does then i wish i knew. it obviouslly helps him play like a fiend so he obviouslly knows something we dont lol

    the simple answer as to why more men play guitar and generally play faster is a simple one. a guitar is just a dick extension ask carlos santana, i quote "There are four things that should go into all guitar playing, The Heart, The Mind, The Soul and The Dick" its not strictlly true since there is always a metal girlband scene, try over in japan. "Yellow Machinegun" Comes highlly recommended by a friend of mine if you dig the whole girl metal thing

    lol ah i c. i had loads of slinkies but i spent most of the time trying top get them blooming untangled lol. ive got the reverb unit out tho atm i have no digi cam available. basic design is using 4 springs. theyre joined up in pairs to make 2 springs. its quite hard to describe what they have at each end. looks sort of like a transformer thing. ill have to get a photo so you can see properlly. im definatelly thinking of taking this into the design block here at school and making a full analogue reverb unit out of it im thinking it would make a seriouslly nice stomp box, a fairlly large one mind you lol (this thing is about a foot and a half long)

    i actually have an old carlsbro bass amp sitting in my room here at school which has a spring reverb unit in it. (ive taken the amp and the nice big 15 inch speaker out of it lol) i havnt actually had chance to get the reverb unit out of the box yet but if ur interested then i could take some pliers to the annoying clip screw things and get some pictures or whatever of it. ive actually been meaning to play around with it myself since a decent reverb unit would be prety cool.

    Im actually part way through building a copy of the Ibanez Tube Screamer. just grab the schematics off the internet and just so long as you can make circuit boards and understand rudimentry electronics its not that difficult just to build it (understanding it is a little trickier lol) when i get round to starting my guitar project im going to be doing a Fuzz Face clone which i'll actually be building into my project for some internal effects fun

    The guitar that Dave Grohl (of Foo Fighters Fame) uses has a green perspex body. from what ive heard they sound ok but they are really just for good looks since the tone isnt that wonderful

    im having a shuftie round ebay to see if there's a body or a whole guitar that i could nab tho atm its a little pointless since i havnt really got the spare cash student life can really suck sometimes

    Amusinglly enough the project that im planning atm (but which i almost certainlly wont be able to start for a while bcs of school) is an explorer body as well lol. id like to get some sort of burst effect with regards to finish. im also actually planning on building a fuzz face distortion effect into it that i can switch on and off and adjust with controls on the guitar. atm however im just trying to sort out all the basic stuff like how to build everything lol. thats why ive spent the last week and a bit cruising round this site to try and find all the info i can lol

    yeah it was the black mockingbird. lots of black stain and then a coating of tung oil. thats where i saw the idea. im very new to building guitars (much more into the electronics side, stomp boxes and FX etc) and so i was looking for a realativlly easy way to finish off a guitar body

    I know that you can use the tung oil/beeswax finish on stained wood and i was wondering how you could go about having a burst finish with dark edges and still use this method to finish? does it work over paint or would you have to do the burst in a stain?? Cheers
