  1. I see these neck joint finish cracks all the time on Les Paul's and Les Paul copies. It is a very common issue with LP type guitars but I don't see it too often on double cutaways. If it is indeed just a finish crack there should be no problem IMO. FWIW I have seen this on bolt on necks not set necks. On another note the price is above what that guitar is probably worth in the condition it's in. I'd let it go and wait for a better one to come along if I was going to spend that kind of cash on an axe.
  2. I second that! Even if it is a Hamer import you can't really want to cover up all that beautiful quilt and abalone.......can you??? I'll trade you a black guitar of similar value if you want.............
  3. Yep, I knew you do it. If you can't handle the negative when you post something like this the DO NOT POST IT!! You obviously think you're right so why are you looking for back up here? Let's keep it simple....post relevant topics not personal attacks and you can stay. If you want to post personal attacks do it somewhere else. ****THREAD CLOSED****
  4. OK.....we don't use profanity here on PG...consider this your warning. BTW I edited it out for you already. Now, you started this thread to attack a guy for buying something from you that turned out to be junk. He didn't like it now what do you do? Refund his money or attack him in a public forum. I think the answer is pretty clear..... I agree that not all sellers know what they are selling. The ones I have run across have stated in their listings "I don't know about XXX product but here it is" You didn't do that and the fact you're posting on PG says you think you do know something about guitars. You claim to know what inline tuners are but the quote in my response above is directly from your listing....I'll repeat it here: So, you have some options here; refund the guys money and everything is better, continue this thread until you really tick someone off (I'm getting there already) or keep making excuses for the fact you sold someone junk and you think you're right not to refund him. The choice is yours.
  5. From his second email I'm guessing he lives pretty close to you. The "Tim" he's referring to is a top notch eBayer and obviously has done some deals with this guy. Tim got where he is on eBay by helping a guy out not by stroking him $14 for what appears to be local shipping. If you chose not to meet him and he agreed to ship the item then give the guy a refund, file a claim with the carrier, have the carrier pick the item up and return it to you or keep it and pay your claim. It all seems so easy from here.......... I've been through this several times (damage claims) and have never ticked anyone off during the process. I issue a quick refund and I get paid back from the carrier. Granted, I have to wait for my money (or in the case of UPS I never get the money) but that's the cost of doing business. Another VERY IMPORTANT thing we are not seeing here is the other side of the conversation. Don't put up a one sided conversation quoting only his emails when something obviously transpired to tick this guy off.....or am I way off base here???? BTW......do you know what "inline" tuners are? Reading your auction description you state the "tuners are not original (maybe even inline)". Hit the I suggest a few things to avoid this in the future: 1) clean up your auction pics 2) spell correctly in your listing 3) know what it is you are describing 4) respect your customers (this should be #1) If you do those 4 things I doubt you will have an issue like this in the future. Granted there are boneheads out there but a guy like your customer here that has 129 + and only 1 negative is not going to be a problem unless you try to stroke him.
  6. Where did she get a crazy idea like that???? The links work fine for me. The catalog and announcement pages are the only ones with any info.
  7. Please do a search......this topic comes up at least twice a month so you should have plenty of existing threads to read through.
  8. I love it.....a Canadian biz with an American flag hanging on the wall. You crack me up Jeremy!! Great article! I hope it brings in the right kind of biz for you so you can continue to grow and be profitable.
  9. Hi Donald and welcome to the forum! Take a few minutes and read this: Pics I look forward to seeing your project!
  10. Oh, man.....this gets tougher every month!! I voted for them all....well, I would if I could.
  11. Hey Greg, I have loads of black walnut here that is dry, stable and ready for a guitar. GuitarEd used some of it in his tele project a while back so he could provide you with an objective comment about it. I have several boards that run about 13/16 to 15/16" thick and are 7 foot long or so. I also have some cut up for tops that are between 20 and 24" and 13/16" thick. Drop me a PM if you're interested and I could get you pics pretty quickly.
  12. You are somewhat correct. The word itself is not an offense but how you used it is offensive to some people. There are other less offensive ways to say things.
  13. Very nice pics Mike - Thanks! That's a very interesting set of clamps they have for the tops. Simple spring clamps with wooden blocks. A guy could save a lot of money by making 20 or so of them instead of buying the pistol grip clamps. I'll have to do some experimenting now. I'm thinking some fo that spring steel they use to hold silo staves (a farmer thing) in place plus a couple of pieces of scrap wood should do the trick.
  14. OK, I'll chime in. Scott moved it to where it belongs so the flaming can stop. I think randy could have approached this differently and left out the selling info.......but what's done is done. You guys have to admit he held up pretty good even though you were flaming him pretty bad. We've all seen others explode a lot quicker so.....let's give randy a chance and see if he's here to learn what he doesn't know and teach us what he does. If it was a spam attempt I'm sure he won't be back. Randy.....please read the forum rules over and make sure threads are placed in the appropriate sections. We don't have a problem with selling stuff on PG but it has to be in the classified or auction sections. All negative comments on his work can stop too unless they are constructive. Read the forum rules if you don't or can't understand what I mean. Let me help if you are too lazy to go to the rules page: If you feel a thread is in the wrong section use the "Report Thread" button and one of the mods will move it. The system works - use it. Consider this your warning (you know who you are).
  15. I used to raise pheasants and they seem to lay about 5 eggs a day. With 200+ hens that was a LOT of eggs! We used to cook them up and share them with our dogs. Very tasty but it takes about 10-12 of them to make a decent sized omelot!! Never had a goose egg....
  16. I totally agree with Wes here........ We all came from no money, no guitar/bass and had to work for it. Go to the home page for Project Guitar: PG Home Page Learn how to set up, maintain, modify and do whatever else you want to the one's you have before even attempting to tackle a build....even from a kit. You'll learn a bunch about what you have and what you're getting into from all the info available there. Not knowing how to lower your pickups tells me you need some schooling before you move on. What Greg said......quit trolling for free stuff and get to work on earning it. You'll appreciate it much more. BTW I started working at 11 (I'm 40 now) and earned everything I have now. You're off to a late start in my book and many others here. I'd like to see your next thread include telling us how you either set up or modded your Explorer by following the tutorials or how you worked for that kit or parts you want so much. G'Day from Wisconsin!!
  17. That's why we can talk to you Wes, you're man enough to admit it....most aren't. .....all the "good" drummers I know are the same way.
  18. I'd like to announce that Roland and I have made an agreement for my company (Presence Guitars) to be the online source for Winter Guitars. I will be getting some inventory in the next week or two and will update my site to show the models I have available. Brain and I have also talked and I will be emailing him my company logo/banner for inclusion on the PG homepage so you can link directly to my site from there. Please be patient for a week or two until I have my inventory in, my site updated and I get a handle on the models and pricing structure for Winter Guitars. Thanks, Steve
  19. ****UPDATE**** I see there has been a lot of interest here I'd like to announce that Roland and I have made an agreement for my company (Presence Guitars) to be the online source for Winter Guitars. I'll post this in a new thread also so those that aren't following this thread are aware of it also. Thanks, Steve
  20. Wow! Sweet work Ragas.....I saw your page a month or two ago and I have no idea where I found the link to it. Is that all hand carving, dremel carving or a mixture of both? I don't thnik you'll have to worry about paying bills in a year or two if you keep that up. Get a guitar in the right hands and you'll have more business than advertising money can buy.
  21. Bacon is one of the......no wait, bacon IS the food group!! I love the stuff. We have a small butcher nearby that does all of his own processing and smoking in house. He wins awards at the state fair every year for bacon, sausage, smoked hams, etc. It's liked eating smoked steak....really, it's that good! I don't do the Atkins thing since I'm 6'2" and only weigh 165....not bad for 40 when all my friends are tipping the scales at 225 plus. Must be good genetics and lots of bacon. I had to switch to decaf 2 months ago but I still drink a pot of it every day. And yes, I am nuts, just ask my wife Nuts goes with being a bass player too....it's how we put up with guitar players egos!!
  22. I chose my all time favorite.....one pound of fresh bacon from the local butcher shop, two slices of toast and a pot of coffee!!
  23. Buying a beater is probably the best way to go. Those parts on that site are not cheap! Do a google for "beatle bass parts".....that's all I did and came up with about 40 hits, that was the first one in line so I posted it. I'd pick up a Jay Turser clone.....they can be had on eBay for under $100 and you can salvage anything you need. I have one here but it's being saved for my drummer.
  24. I had a few in here and sold them but this last one went straight to my studio. I bought the case for it so that makes it a keeper! I was hung up on the EB3 for an all around short scale until I played the Allen Woody. My EB3 hasn't seen a minute of play time since........My Les Paul bass is getting mighty lonely too....and the oother 7 basses in my studio
  25. They should be readily available at any decent hardware or welding supply shop. I use them for a bunch of different things from polishing stainless to cleaning welds to derusting my mower deck to removing paint from various things etc, etc, etc. They are one of the handiest things I've found for using in the shop.....and the grinder they attach to of course! I buy them in 6 packs from the hardware store.
