  2. hi, i'm 37, i am from massachusetts, but please don't hold that against me . i work ( again) in a car dealer, selling parts, and yes, i spend alot of time on the internet while at work. i've been playing guitar for about 21 years, and have always done my own repairs...i hope to build a guitar from scratch someday....maybe an amp too (scary). i have been building effects pedals for a few years now. i have bad knees too, hmm....i see a pattern forming here....
  3. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bodies,_necks,..._for_Strat.html the price is not bad, i just wonder about the quality.... and how is stew-mac to deal with? i have heard a few not so good stories....
  4. cool, i was pretty much just wondering how old it was...if it was just a cheapo neck, stuff like that.... the frets are too small for my liking...i am thinking about a re-fret.
  5. yeah, i guess it is just a plain old strat neck, sorry for asking
  6. hello, i have this strat neck, that i need help identifying. it's maple, 21 frets, made in japan. the serial # is E9441xx. when looking at the headstock, the tuning keys are "angled", rather than being "horizontal" to the top edge of the headstock. http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/guitarlan...ock.jpg&.view=t hopefully that image got posted, it's my first attempt at posting a picture. any information on this neck would be appreciated. Thanks, Frank
  7. i found a piece of mahogany ( i think) in my basement...looks like it was off of a chair, in a past life...i think i will try to use it. can you but skunk stripes pre made any where? i wonder if i could inlay something fancy in there???
  8. cool, thanks for the link.....good stuff there.... another question....does it matter what kind of wood i use to replace the skunk stripe? does it have to be a hardwood? i have heard that the originals are made of Koa
  9. the tele-style kit looks interesting, has anyone built one?
  10. cool. are there any pictures, or diagrams around, that show what the inside of this particular neck looks like inside?, i'm curious.
  11. what i am looking for is a replacement neck for my MIM strat. i snapped the truss rod in the original, and have since replaced it with a japanese made neck, but i am not completely happy with the neck, because the frets are too small...i suppose a refret is possible...but i have never done that before...maybe a project for a later day. anyways, what i am looking for in a neck is the most bang for my buck...i don't want to spend alot of money on this guitar. thanks <<<<<that's what i really look like
  12. i posted this as a reply earlier, but i figured i'd post again.... i have a strat neck that i am wanting to perform a truss rod transplant on. it is off of a MIM strat, rosewood fretboard, adjusts at the nut end of the neck. i know it's probably not worthe the time to do this, but i want to learn. i have already started to remove the skunk stripe, to try and get it out, but the skunk stripe is breaking into little pieces. i wonder now, if removing the fretboard would be easier.... also, does tha anchor part, at the heel of the neck unscrew, off of the rod?
