  1. tune o matic. thanks for the tip! ill try but i am a newbie plus i already have my wood. its cocobolo.
  2. nearing completion of my first guitar! joy! start finishing next week. anyway i just had a couple of questions before the big fret sunday. 1: HOW accurate does fret placement have to be. 2: What angle should the TOM bridge be around. i know it doesnt need to be exactly on the money because you can move the saddles.
  3. 2 of my dads strats necks are screwed and he only got them 2 years ago. all 3 of my friends strats necks have warped and bowed to hell. maybe its our climate here but the flatsawn necks are screwed here.
  4. you sure about that ceramic vs alnico comment? about ceramic being hotter/ i heard otherwise.
  5. !!!! sethmetal we need more guys like you around here!!!! thats GREAT! pm that to brian!
  6. you might want to look into a laminated neck. Its more attractive and you wont risk your neck warping down the road. yes fender necks notoriously warp.
  7. nice job! we could use more people like you around here!
  8. if you like the sound of valves check out the marshall combo valvestate series. they have quite a bite. its great. also check out the JCM combo tube series. cheap and great. i'd definately go for a marshall over a valvestate any day.
  9. hm..... well the dyes from stew mac are either water soluble or alchohol soluble if you mean directly mixing to dissolve the dye a lacquers not for that. but as for a good laquer brand im not sure one will pop up im sure.
  10. no it wont sound distinctly like a les paul. the main part of a solid body that affects the tone are the pickups. go with some strat like pickups and you should be fine.
  11. sweet......jeesus..... lgm you never cease to amaze me
  12. ! rusty cooley in a guitar magazing wrote a lesson about the pentatonic scales + boxes...etc. Go rusty! anyone see this?
  13. getting back on topic. i think the idea makes sense because you have nothing to get between the neck and the pickup. thats a cool idea and all but there could be problems. noone besides ed roman has actually done this, and all we have is his wishy washy not very credible word to go by. so until someone more experienced executes this properly and makes a guitar that is about the same and then posts clips of the 2 guitars playing on the same setting i think we should just give it a rest.
  14. what about all the bacteria eating away the wood?
  15. behringher and the marshall combos. fender makes some decent lower end amps. but their combos are all time. buy one used. they have a great sound.
  16. isnt spalted maple a form of rotting? how will it hold up over time?
  17. oh man that hurts...... back to the LP though.
  18. i had an idea last week of making a laminate guitar and carving it les paul style but deeper. this would give it a natural bullseye. i think it would be very cool
  19. it will be fine. i replaced the lefty tuners on my cousins bass to my other cousins righty bass it worked fine.
  20. sweeeeeeeeeeeet thats quite a gibson!
  21. woah! thanks! do you think the 13.2k will go well with the AB drak? or too high ouput?

  23. well its a perfect burst and its on figured maple.... i dont know it looks like a volcano in the carribean.... if there is a volcano in hte carribean. i didnt think it had to be tropical colors but whatever man its beautiful
  24. honestly i dont understand the appeal behind that guy. but by all means you all have your opinions. but quite honestly i think kurt cobain couldnt play with someone like justin timberlake and keep up. I guess he had a message there or....something.
