  1. lol your probably right. but i can handle it just for shi** and giggles. plus im pretty lanky i have vai hands. Do you have any suggestions for archtops meeting this for less than 700?
  2. yeah the artcore was one of the major ideas runnin through. Drak thanks for all the questions. I prefer an ornate metal bridge, 17 or 18 inch archtop. flatwounds are nice but roundwounds i can deal with too. ebony TOM please. sitka sounds best for me as a top but any of those are fine if you can find it for the price. preferably maple neck. I like a floating pickup. but whatever as long as it has electronics. carved top is necessary those flat topped archtops sound like ass to me.
  3. HAVE Oscar shmidt (laugh if you must) semi hollow decent sounding blues guitar. Vintage cort 26.5 sclae length tele sort of guitar.....with 1 working hum with only a little bit of potting left so it feeds back like a mother. the other hum is broken. I found this in a dumpster. but a lot of story behind this guitar. its seasoned to say the least. Korg Pandora (barely use) Marshall MG 100 watt head from ebay. Ibanez tone blaster 4x12 cab. pretty nice stuff. WANT: My custom jem! a nice archtop to tide me over. (jazz concert coming up.) My custom archtop. Fender 2x12 deville Bad horsie 2 wah (i think, i have to try it out to see if it gets funky) thats if for now!
  4. get a great teacher. that will allow you progress at a much faster pace. take it from me, i learned for about 5 months by ear and got far but the next 6 months with lessons (plus practicing 5-10 hours a day and a ton of drive) got me to the top of my game. I've been playing for just under a year and im better than kids who have been playing for about 9 years. Teachers are everything
  5. nah i have a semi i need a full 3-4 inch depth hollow body.semis are all right but.... come on you gotta have the real deal jazz sound.
  6. ................lord! drak deserves it though. he does killer finishes.
  7. I know this isnt in the proper section ill probably get more responses this way. What do you guys recommend for an archtop 700 dollars and lower. i like the carlo robellis, the ibanezs look nice but i have to play them, the epiphone joe pass is real nice but its a little expensive for the features. I love the arias but i dont where to find them. anyone have recommendations?
  8. eh? anyway regarding wahs. my wah experience has been totally SCREWED! My vintage dunlop from 69 or 73 dont remember just like stopped working one day. and my vox just didnt work period. I think ill go for a morley.
  9. our drummer is pissing me off. he keeps drumming when we're trying to figure out the progressions...etc. but your right rye!
  10. thats nice! too bad they dont have pictures. I bought my cocobolo (enough to make 2 fretboards) at a local hardwood store. The grain may not be as extravagant also. but its all good. thanks for the link.
  11. Hell of a first bass man. THats beautiful. tahts like a warwick. i can dig the neck too. very diggable bass. man i love you! we need more do-ers around here.
  12. I love the lace sensors i just got. I've installed them on my oscar shmidt great great sound. to my surprise (drak) they actually had a large amount of quack in them like the holy grails. more so than the texas specials plus they overdrive well. really well. I love the sound of the lace sensor gold. Probably more than the grails because they overdrive much better. the grails are all about quack. but the golds have a bit when the tone is up and the clean on. its great stuff.
  13. you wish drak! My dyes are HERE! and im going to OWN your carrie.
  14. thanks for the link canuck! but does it stay in tune???? does anyone know?
  15. i think that clapton is underrated by guitar players. my guitar teacher showed me a clip of him playing cross roads at 19. amazing stuff. he has talent as a song writer and player. i used to consider him over rated. but he can play slide, he has a great voice, he is a great song writer/ lyrics writer AND he can play. he is a jack of all traits and doesnt perform them novelly. he performs them with solid backing and feeling. its not like hes doing it for laughs.
  16. i deduced that i am not going to be using a floyd rose bridge. There are just too many tuning issues. what about a bigsby i saw that it runs through a tune o matic plus it has a retention bar. so when a string breaks im sure the whole guitar wont go out. or when you bend or pick near the bridge you wont go out either. right? can someone list out the benefits of a bigsby trem? or should I just not bother with the trem. as it is quite expensive. plus i think it would be really funny to post a carved top jem with a bigsby trem on jemsite and seeing their reactions. anyway thats besides the point im nearing completion and i need to order my hardware pickups are here (thank god drak) and body is routed...etc. just if i could get some last minute opinions. Thanks, Sam Fisher PS: i have a spare tune o matic and stop tail so no need to rush the decision.
  17. cnc routing is the closest to perfect that you can get but they are pretty hard to come by. (that is a friend who owns one) as they are 10,000 and up
  18. i think i understand what your saying. buy a template or make one. then route out the wood as close as you can get it. then use that same template to cut out the wood as close as you can to the template. and then if you cut it too small use wood filler. aka wood dust and glue. if you cut it too large shave it down. thats how you do that.
  19. Setch post some more pics and re enter it next GOTM. that guitar is looking beautiful and litch! DAMN litch! that thing looks INCREDIBLE! as for that steve fister mirage paint guitar another great! a lot of great choices this month but draks cocobolo V is just BEAUTIFUL. the right down to the bookmatching and the bindings. i love it! great job everyone. BTW can i enter my guitar in GOTM and the carriburst? its cool if i can only enter it in carri but its going to be done in about 2 1/2 months starting finishing next week. joy! ill post pics of the inlay soon.........
