  1. Are there any differing reasons for either, or is it purely a matter of preferance? -Vadim
  2. Hey guys, I am buying a new guitar amp. I figure its time to move up into the world of half stacks... If I don't plan to have two cabs, should I get a straight or angled stack? Thanks -Vadim
  3. Yeah dude, at 4 grand you're gonna have to to get one. -Vadim
  4. This isn't what you were asking for, but it could probably be converted into a bolt-on. Agile Fretless Neck -Vadim
  5. Hey guys, One of my friends wants to record a physics review session we are having on friday onto his micro tape recorder. Is there a relatively cheap microphone that he can point at the professor and have it pick up the guy talking about 30 feet away, or is it gonna have to be placed on a desk in the front row. BTW, its an ampitheater type lecture hall, so there is line of site between the surface of the desk and the teacher's head. Thanks and sorry for being only slightly related. -Vadim
  6. Hey guys, I just started a band, and the bassist is amazing. Easily one of the best musicians I have played with (and I have played with kids that ended up at Berkley, New England COnservatory, and Manhattan School of Music). Most of the stuff we play is somewhere between funk and hardcore. I just can't keep up, can anyone recomend a decent book or video to teach me some new scales and help with speed and technique. Thanks dudes. -Vadim
  7. back to the piezo thing, so how about a hooking a circuit up as follows, any thoughts? peizo elements --> jfet buffer (little bit of boost) --> tone stack (the three band ones used in amps) --> blend pot for combination with magnetic pickups. -Vadim
  8. I am assuming this would be the right place to put this. I found a site that has CAD files of alot of standard stringed insrument hardware available. hardware files -Vadim
  9. Dudes, I was looking online and found a schematic for a cable that has a built in pre-amp that runs off of phantom power coming from a special stompbox. I just wish i had an acoustic that needed a pre-amp now the cable preamp rock on -Vadim
  10. Hey. Here is a site that breaks down a fuzz face by component, and explains what everything does and what and where to mod. A pretty good read if you are looking into building a ff. Technology of the Fuzz Face -Vadim
  11. have any of you guys ever put this together, and thoughts on the circuit. I realize its not going to be like having six different pedals, but the idea of breaking down the stages of different setups and being able to pick the ones you want seems cool. Omnidrive btw, as far as the pitch shifter comments I posted earlier this week, feel free to punch me in the face. I assumed it would be alot simpler than it turned out. -Vadim
  12. Do you mean all the strings tuned down a half step, or just the E string down to a D. The whole guitar down a half step thing could be done with a pretty simple active circuit activated by a push/pull. I'll post something this weekend, too much hw right now. -Vadim
  13. don't feel too bad dude, crybabies are just ok. the 10 dollar one is at the bottom of the page and is the exact part number used in vox wahs -Vadim btw, how is the new soldering iron coming, i haven't seen anything in a while
  14. Yeah, but aren't 500 mh the standard vox/crybaby inductors and readily available for around $10 in a few different flavors from a million different places? -Vadim Crybaby Parts including Inductors
  15. Wasn't there a thread a while ago where a guy epoxied a pair of radioshack piezos to the sustain block of a strat trem? I have been looking for it, but found nothing. As far as info on building the actual pickup there are a ton of build reports out there. here is one really good one. Making a piezo pickup -Vadim
  16. I have heard good things about bill lawrence blade humbuckers. Any thoughts? Also, can anyone clarify the the b.s. about their being two seperate comanies with strikingly similar products? Bill Lawrence #1 Bill Lawrence #2 Any help would be appreciated. -Vadim
  17. What would you guys recomend if i wanted to backlight a single, relatively large inlay. -Vadim
  18. to those who have done it, any advice on the proper technique. I have an old samick strat clone with some bad damage at the neck joint that needs a new purpose in life . -Vadim
  19. why not just block it? http://users.pandora.be/marnix.ghesquiere/...ockingtrem.html
  20. Dan, From what i understand, the warmoth necks are all made for a strat scale (at least thats what ed roman says). As far as buying a set neck goes, I have never seen em sold seperately. Have you considered building one? http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/neck.htm http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/fretting.htm http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...?showtopic=5855
  21. surprised noone has mentioned it, but the curves on that curve are pretty freakin sexy. -Vadim
