  1. Has anyone tried these microplane hacksaw blades? They might be nice for body contours and carves. http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=...285&cat=1,42524

  3. Not the Gretsch for me. The Gretsch just doesn't cut it with the Slayer tunes
  4. Now that's my kind of LP.That color is cool.Great work. I want a warlock that color.
  5. I'm gonna try a wristband.I'm thinkin it's like a heat rash..........err diaper rash. My girlfriend always said I'm a baby
  6. I seem to get a rash when I touch cured lacquer. It just happened out of the blue.I was playing and noticed an itchy rash where my arm touches the body. When I stop playing for a few days it goes away. I can't say for sure but it seems likely that it is the lacquer. Is this common at all?
  7. I have a strat template I made from a picture off of the net.I wanted to know what is the measurement of the widest part of a strat? I have 12 1/2. Please and thanks
  8. I'm building a lacewood Virgin and I wanted to use lacewood for the neck binding. Are the soft spots in lacewood no good for a binding?Would epoxy then poly on the outside edge of the binding be correct?
  9. Very cool. The edges are sooo clean and square.
  10. Thanks Greg.Yeah.I'm gonna want the headstock to be clear so a nice scarf joint will be what I need to do.Time to stop avoiding it and try I guess. I'll try on a scrap first before my birdseye blank.
  11. I have never done a scarf joint. I have a 1inch surfaced board and I wanted to stack 1 or 2, 6 inch blocks at the headstock end to cut the headstock out of a solid piece. Is this done by others?
  12. This whole site is about doing your own guitar work.He shouldn't waste his money. He should use some tuts to do it himself. I don't think it's a good price at all.Half of the part total is going to be the installation fee? 2 Emgs around 180 or 190?Then install for 100? I guess it's what $1OO is to you.
  13. Isn't the whole thing about, should he pay 100 bucks for it when we know that you can do it easily, and save your money to pick up another EMG if you want. Not that some shop has to charge for their service.
  14. Anyone know if these are any good at all? They say 40 something dollars for a set. That alone makes me think they are crap but thought I'd ask.
  15. Exactly what I was thinking.Very classy. The koa binding is beautiful. I love the neck joint.Great guitar
  16. Do those live wires use 2 9 volts?
  17. Is there any software that allows you to have a band practice over the net?Where you all can be in different places at once, not a stream of your band.
  18. Thanks for the heads up.I may instead pick it up for a LP project.
  19. My local pawn shop has a Bartolini PBF77-D Bridge pickup. I'm pretty much wondering if it has any good high gain applications?
  20. I just weighed my beveled edge explorer and it weighed in at 6.2 pounds. It's a Mahogany body, maple purpleheart neck.Is that quite light compared to most explorers?
  21. The L-500XL isn't the Dimebucker, but it is the original pickup he used. I've never tried the Dimebucker I've always used the Xl. IMO,buy the Xl and pocket the cash you saved. The XL's a better pickup on top of it. Check out billlawrence.com As far as the 81 or the Xl go,all personal choice. Some quickly go 81 others go XL. You should be very happy with either.
  22. I think Hyunsu used a spruce top on a guitar on this forum didn't he?
  23. I just had a 2 hour jam session with the 81.All it needs is time for you to figure out good settings on your amp.It has a slight mid scoop I think. That's what I didn't like at first, but it grows on ya. The louder you go the more this pickup likes it. So,I guess I finally have another pickup other than my XL. All ur guits can't sound the same.
  24. Do you have any building experience at all? I would say forget about removing the board. That can be a headache for an experienced guy I would think. The neck finish would have to be removed before adding peghead ears. You should check out some tutorials on the homepage.
