Hollowbody Archtop Project

Recommended Posts

We're going to be making a hollowbody archtop guitar similar to the Gibson Classic models for a potential customer.

The big question about doing it is this: What is the BEST and most efficient way of arching the top. If it were solid, I would definately use a cove router bit and carve the top, but considering the hollowbody part of it, I'm not so sure this wouldnt be a total waste of good wood.

If perhaps there is a way to accurately bend a 1/4" top or perhaps something else, I would LOVE to know, as this is very important.

Thanks,

Mitch - MKG
