LACE pickups

hi all,

was wondering if you could help me choose the right pickups for my future project strat. basically im after that smooth bell like tone in the neck position, the shredder tone, like yngwies, would a Gold Lace Sensor be suitable? i also play metal, so a good bridge pickup would be a bonus. there are several options to me. a full lace sensor gold set, would this satisfy? a gold/blue/red setup, would this be better? also the option of using the Dually pickups, a twin gold at the neck and a twin red in the bridge? any comments would be well recieved. the pickups look very promising, i dont like normal passives, but these look light years past normal passives, i would usually use EMG's but wanna try these. i like versatility, i usually put in switches for making the pots no-load etc...

whatare the s/n figures for these pickups? the site seems to tell me 5 times better, but a nice ball park figure would be cool! thanks in advance!

If you're after the Yngwie sound, you don't need hot pickups - he's using an overdrive pedal ( either a DOD OD-250 or his signature YJM-308 - there's not much difference) to beat those plexis into submission. As for the S/N ratio, I don't know of any pickup manufacturer that publishes specs, and without an accepted industry standard test, the results would be meaningless anyway. In my limited experience, in a badly wired room with multiple fluorescent fixtures (our rehearsal space is an audio Bermuda Triangle), a set of golds in a well-shielded (post-factory) Strat is nearly as quiet as a well-shielded dual humbucker PRS. They're not as quiet as EMGs, again in my limited experience, but they're close. As always, these are my subjective opinions, YMMV.
