skibum5545
Man, those are some nice builds! I especially like the more radiused one. The way you used the two differently figured maple pieces next to each other... wow. About that last guitar: what's with the size difference between the front and the back? Has it not been trimmed, or is it a binding channel, or what? I can't really tell that well from the pics. All in all, I am truly amazed and inspired. I'm going to start on my second, as soon as I finish this d*** term paper!
StratDudeDan
Nice job... I like this one. same here, looks very similar to a bass design i've been working with lately. i love the full sweep from one horn to the next instead of a "rounded up to the neck" look like strats. !!METAL MATT!!
Geez dude, how many are you building??? I too was sceptical and am sorry if I said anything out of line . Looks like some fantastic work, and you could school me any day. How bout some pics of a completely finished one?? I'd love to see those babies all stringed up. Again, not my favorite designs, but you can't deny the quality of the craftsmanship. Thanks that realy means alot and you never said anthing out of line as far as a completely finished one I dont have any hear that I've done I sold one and I gave one to my best friend and I tore one apart this all happend 3 years ago when I had to stop building guitars and I'am starting over with all 7 guitars thats right 7 I know it's alot but I hope to get them all done in time. what's with the size difference between the front and the back? Has it not been trimmed, or is it a binding channel, or what? well none of the tops are glued on and the first one is not trimmed yet that's why there's a size difference. and thanks for the kind words guys!! !!METAL MATT!! !!METAL MATT!!
Ya that one seems to be a real favorit the story behind it is this about a year ago I tryed to build some odd hairbrain wild guitar and it failed it realy failed so I cut it in to 6 part's and threw in the junk wood box then one day I got bored so I started to glue chunks of old wood up and I just started to cut and sand and I came up with this guitar and it came out realy good not bad for garbage!! !!METAL MATT!! CudBucket
Hey Matt, Do you have any pictures of completed guitars? Do you build necks as well?
!!METAL MATT!!
Do you have any pictures of completed guitars? Do you build necks as well? Well I found one of my guitars that I built a while ago and I should get some pics of that one it looks good for the most part but there are a few flaws like a small gap where the neck is placed and the finish is very thin and Iam working on my first neck ever I use to buy whole guitars and part them out it is alot cheaper if your still learing how to build guitars since the cost of buying all the parts on there own CAN KILL!! rough price's 250$for a neck 4.98$for a string nut 30$for tuning machines 150$for pickups 50$for a bridge 13.00$for strap buttons 10.00$for chrome control knobs 11.00$for a 3-way pickup switch 8.00$for 500k mini pots 3.00$for a 1/4''output jack 4.00$for cavity covers All this = 532$ the price on a cheap factory guitar 250$-300$ just look for what you like and need and your set !!METAL MATT!! !!METAL MATT!!
Well I got some work done not a lot but work none the less Iam very happy and excited about my MOD'S to the X-Infinity electric guitar this one was inspired by boredom with the original design it was too plane/lame the new one in my mind is a brutal death warfare machine deadmikes guitar had a role to play in this new design the pics just dont do it justice AT ALL I mounted the neck on to the top temporily with 2 screws in the neck pocket for the sole reason of making sure it all fits and sits right and this thing is one of the most comfortable guitars that I have built but I do have alot of hard work a head of me and I cant wait IT WILL BE DEADLY!! when Iam done. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/ZAD...ewwork10002.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/ZAD...ewwork40005.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/ZAD...ewwork60007.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/ZAD...ewwork50006.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/ZAD...newwork0001.jpg And I got some work done on my other 7-string I used a router bit for the conture on the top and back but it really burned so I have alot of sanding to do so it look's very rough!! any way hear you go http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/ZAD...ewwork30004.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/ZAD...ewwork20003.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/ZAD...wwork100011.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/ZAD...ewwork90010.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/ZAD...ewwork70008.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/ZAD...ewwork80009.jpg Sorry none or the pics show the wood very well at all It's not the best digital camera So what do you think sofar any suggestions/comments Thanks!! !!METAL MATT!!
