Epi_47 Posted May 24, 2003 Report Share Posted May 24, 2003 Im getting a tele-style build-it-yourself guitar kit that comes with all the materials needed except for finish. I am thinking of using an oil-based stain on the basswood body, and then finishing over it with tung oil. Any feedback or better ideas? westhemann Posted May 25, 2003 Report Share Posted May 25, 2003 i think you might need to condition the wood beforehand to get a more even stain.i stained a basswood body and the endgrain stained MUCH darker than the face.(the endgrain is the sides of the guitar) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
