Neck Angle

does anyone know the neck angle for gibsons or any guitar that uses tune-o-matics? i've heard of how to determine it and i came up with about 4 or 5 degrees. sound right? thanks.

I'm building a guitar with a tune o matic and I need to know the neck angle because of the tall bridge. Does anyone know the standard angle for guitars that use a tune o matic? Thanks.

well it depends on the relationship of the fretboard to the top of the guitar as well...just making it 4 degrees will not necessarily be correct if the fretboard is 1" above the guitar top...but if it is only about 1/4" above the top(pretty average),then 4 degrees sounds pretty close.

BUT i have not drawn it out,...if you have,then trust what you came up with

so i guess you are an old metallica fan and you want to build an explorer?

Thanks. The neck pocket will be 5/8" deep so the top of the fretboard will be 1/4" above the guitar body. I guess i'll go with 4 degrees. I'm building a les paul style guitar actually.
